Got the shipping notification for my Studio Canal purchase of this from Amazon UK and discovered it is being sent via UPS. Not an issue if I lived in the country's capital city, but UPS doesn't deliver anywhere else in the country, especially not to the Highlands. Now I'll have to really track it and hope that my NGO's office in the capital can get it when it gets out of customs. Will probably cost me an additional $10-20 in service fees.

Anyone know if there is a digital option available for the studio canal 4k version available in the US or do we have to order the UK physical disc to view this?

I was considering grabbing the SC version but based on capsaholic the Sony looks more detailed and natural color to me. Granted I know caps don't tell all because of HDR, but the Sony looks obviously better. What am I missing here?

The Sony is sharpened.

I have both (I first bought the Sony and kept it because of the Extras and German language options for my son) and I assure you the StudioCanal release is superior in picture quality.

In fact even my son (12) noticed the subpar picture quality when we watched the Sony recently and I was already thinking "man the StudioCanal is further ahead in picture quality than I thought/remembered"

And although the Sony actually shows more dynamic range than the SC and looks more "natural" for colour, this is one instance where "natural" doesn't quite fit IMO as it's meant to be a gaudy neon riot of a movie.

Yep. I remember saying the same about the old Euro Gaumont Blu-ray I think (versus the old US Blu-ray)

Me too, and yet you got looked at like you had three heads if you said you preferred the Gaumont BD transfer to the Sony. Oddly enough, it was pretty much the same situation: Sony looked more natural for colour and range but had a load of sharpening, whereas the Gaumont was way more blown out and yellowy but didn't have all that extra ringing on top.

It’s not just sharpening. SC/Gaumont scanned the actual film negative for their UHD. Which is Gucci. Sony on the other hand, dug up an old dusty HDCAM SR tape, ran no less than 10 passes of sharpening, and is pretending to sell a 4K UHD.

Regardless, I like watching both versions for a different feel. I'll literally alternate each viewing. Not so with Cliffhanger where I prefer the Sony -just personally- no matter the arguments against that disc.

Yep. One of those cases where I trusted my eyes despite reading other stuff elsewhere!

I just finished watching this last night, freaking looked AMAZING compared to my old blu ray.

I would love to compare it to that Studio Canal one but I liked the colors and vibrant feel of this. I could really feel the HDR effect in places.

for sound The Dolby Atmos Dialogue was quiet from front speakers at times then got super loud in action scenes.

If you upgrade to the StudioCanal release, yes. If it's the Sony, hell no.

I ordered this from Zavvi UK. Its £19.99 right now and you get 30% off with the code 4K30. I have never seen this but I have heard good things.
