Another way Pioneer could get back in the game of UHD players is just to sell one Elite model like the LX800 was. It would be like $2k or so.

If they want to compete with Sony,Panasonic than they will have one elite model and a less expensive model available. If they just want to start selling UHD players than selling one expensive elite model seems plausible.

Not sure what path they will take but if their goal is to compete with rival UHD players selling one expensive elite model isn't going to cut it.

The "Elite" moniker has only ever existed in the US. Everywhere else, including in Japan, everything has been branded simply as Pioneer.

Don't people here feel like giving these turkeys a piece of our minds about a long overdue successor for the LX500?

They certainly seem to be asking for it here.

You certainly can try but I doubt they care enough if a couple of fourm users like us want a successor to the LX500. My LX500 still works flawlessly and I would not even update it right away if they did release a new model. My guess is Pioneer is out of making disc players for good and will just make disc recorders.

Sorry to post on an old thread but I finally came across two movies that the 500 is freezing on:

A Quiet Place II
Wonder Woman

Is anyone else having issues with these movies? I'm not sure if Pioneer is still creating updated firmware for this great player.

Nope.

I have had issues with Transformers.

Been babying my LX500 considering how rare it is and no parts if it breaks.

Powered it up last night after its winter hibernation and it played flawlessly. Such a great player. It’s too bad Pioneer exited the market.

I love my Pio Elite player...to lazy currently to look up the model. But it was one of their last flagship models.

Only issue is the tray opens and then closes right away - so I have to be quick putting in the disc.

But I dread the day it dies as that will usher in a shit show avalance of required upgrades - 4k TV, 4k player, 4k compatible matrix switch....4k Apple TV....etc. etc. etc.

And frankly while I used to love new tech and futzing around with all the settings to get everything 'just right' - I'm too old now and have way bigger issues than to want to deal with that shit now.

Wish there was a successor. It's slow and not really loading/playing newer movies well. What it still does super is play any kind of audio disc. It's now my dedicated music source.

I don't baby my player because I don't play that much. The vast majority of what I watch is streamed. My LX500 hardly gets any work these days.

I’ve enjoyed my LX500 since 2020 when I bought it from Best Buy. No problems until recently; takes several attempts for the remote to open the door when there’s no disc inside. But I’ve yet to have that problem when I had powered it off with a disc inside.

Has anyone had this problem? If yes, what’s the usual cause and fix? And which, if any, replacement part is usually needed?

Also, beyond this problem, which have been the most common kinds of failures?

And have parts been available to fix them?

Bumping this one after a year.

I love this player…I really do. It’s a shame it was discontinued after such a short run.

Reason for the bump…as some of you may or may not know, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 from Arrow 4K is a bit problematic as it fails to play Dolby Vision in Panasonic players-primarily the 820. You get sound, but no audio.

I received my copy today and was curious if it would play in the Pioneer. I am happy to report that it did. Considering the player has not had a firmware update in several years and is no longer supported, I feel it’s an issue on Arrow’s end and not with Panasonic.

You know a player is good when you can even make $ off the empty box. To be fair, it did come with the remote.

Someone likely bought it to use to sell and ship theirs. It adds value to the player if you have the original box, remote and manuals.

Pretty good. I have it in my home theater room and am using the UB9000 daily for now giving it a rest.

Nice. The 820 is my daily and the 500 is my Ferrari garage queen.

Same principle here which is why I gave the LX500 a rest and am using the UB9000.

Mine is more of a music player now but it still does the trick. There are some disc issues so it's no longer the primary 4k player (3rd now ).
