50/50 is pushing it because let's face it: Most of the people who wanted Hereoes on HD-DVD already bought it. The spike benefit from that has now come and gone for the most part.

It's not inconceivable but I really wouldn't bank on it.

I agree, Heroes has a very dedicated fan base, and most will have snatched it up as soon as it hits the shelves... If the consumer wanted it badley enough to pay the high sticker price, they would have picked it up early.

At least thats my $.02

Couldn't agree more doby. Thanks for the pic.

They'll try and spin it somehow, but this is the 36th consecutive week that BD has dominated in sales...in economics, we call that a sales trend.

Absolutely true. Much like all the weeks prior, HD DVD sales will peak the first week, and soon tank thereafter. Great point JTK.

Like I said, worst case scenario. But you do have a strong point though, so I might be wrong on the "more even ratio" theory. I guess I'm just one of those people who don't like getting stuff the first week they come out.

Compare the releases for the rest of the year...

**

Blu-ray

http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/releasedates.html

HD DVD

http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/releasedates.html

**

The only week that HD DVD even has a slight chance of doing as well as they did this week is October 16th (Transformers week) - other than that they are toast.

Take a look at November 6th - can you say 95/5 split?

Next week is tough on Blu also. Pretty small batch of releases on the 11th, no? I'll buy a few of something, maybe as future gifts in order to do my part.

Not only can they not claim the top spot, but the top spot is claimed by a Blu-ray title that is ALSO AVAILABLE ON HD-DVD that has been out FOR SEVERAL WEEKS ALREADY. On top of it all, they don't even at the very least pull even, and forget about even budging the Since Inception percentage.

Transformers? Please.
TF will be nice for them but I really don't see it having much more impact than Blades of Glory and Heroes.

For all that happened, I really think it's downright laughable they didn't get more out of the whole thing.

And that's it for 'em. They "blew their wad" as the oft repeated and popular expression goes. It can only go back downhill for them from this point forward.

They had EVERYTHING on their side, starting with the Paramount news and they just couldn't get the job done.

Releasing on Blu-ray is so difficult that Paramount yanked movies that were already made and heading for store shelves. Yeah right!

Don't forget they announced a problem with "Heros" freezing players. That will only help cool off any extra numbers it could have hoped to pull.

Blades of Glory did $118,245,842
Ghost Rider did $115,802,596

Check out the TF ad. I think we're seeing the first of the bribe money being spent.

Ooo, it's going to get ugly for HD DVD from here forward.

It is a long quoute, but excellent points. HD DVD is getting OWNED!

I am also pleased to see that BD's ratio to HD DVD on 300 improved over last week, which was about 100:75.

Transformers won't even be a blip... there are plenty of blu-ray releases to counter that in the wings.
Definately not. Transformers is a 300-size threat, and being exclusive means that there's at least 25 or 30,000 neutrals out there who will just buy on HD (that's more than _2_ titles sell in a week right there)

Heroes will crash in week 2. It's very expensive and most people who wanted it in HD got it last week.
