Revanche 5/5 - great, deep themes, and many, many, many subtle underlying tones and themes. greatness. and looks GORGEOUS on blu

Zack & Miri was great.. loved Justin Long in that.. especially the outtakes during the credits.. yea im going tonight at midnight for hte release.. ill decide then if i want the exclusive or combo pack

Now u over doin it haha. While Yes Man wasnt great, I think its much better than Pineapple though. I havnt liked Jim Carrey movies for a while now and thought he did ok with that one. Got Em!!

Have you seen the trailer for Source Code? It looks like a great action/sci-fi but Jake Gyllenhaal taking the main role just gets an epic facepalm from me. I hope it's good.

Well, IMO the cinematography isnt "bad" at all, in fact its quite good, it just doesnt "fit" the film. I found it far too contemporary in its style and lighting, and too busy in its movements for a period piece. The camera followed specific characters with very aggressive movements. There is a 15 part mini-series by the BBC Masterpiece Theater of the Charles Dickens work "Bleak House". It takes place in 1852-1853. The lighting design there is utterly breathtaking. You can feel the size of the rooms. You can feel the different temperatures and the humidity. The camerawork was too "The Office" busy for my tastes, but the lighting was to die for.

That reminds me of Surfdude's praise about the natural lighting in Barry Lyndon. There definitely was a lot of handheld. You have an excellent point there. Though I don't see anything wrong with incorporating contemporary flavor to an old-fashioned film if it's used effectively (which I think it was).
