If the 260s can be 7 to 7-1/2 ft apart and 30" off the wall and you should get a great soundstage especially if you have some distance from the side walls, about 3 ft or so. Plus they'll have the bass and more top-end dynamic (forwardness) the scansonics lack.
The 160s never sounded small for HT, it was music where I could get them to bottom out which is what spurred my desire to change them to the 260s, and honestly that only happened 3-4 times and when I played the one or 2 tracks I have. With music they sounded great and never small cause they produced a nice sized soundstage, with punchy bass, but not the bass the 260s are capable of. For HT the 260s produce more output and do play a little louder. Last edited by callas01; 07-11-2016 at 03:44 AM. |

Yeah end of October should be when I receive the C-30s, I was probably the first in NA to order the new Contours as i alredy had an order placed on 3.4LE when they finally announced the new Contours in Muncich and thank god it was not too late to change the order.
They have yet to ship to dealers should be interesting. The Totem Sky will replace the Model One and another bigger Monitor is also expected. |

I've been in to my dealer's a few times in the last couple months comparing the Emit M10's with the X14's, and the M10's are really impressive for the price!
I still think I prefer the X14's. The M10's may be slightly more energetic sounding so they're great with every type of music, but the X14's seem more effortless and a little more musical like you've said BigAl. I also took my RC-Mini's in and compared them to the Martin Logan Motion 15's bookshelfs. It's a bit of a different presentation with the ML's... very clean and clear sounding with pretty good detail level's, probably more detailed/textured than the Dyn's. But the ML's are not entirely natural sounding to me... a little sterile and mechanical sounding, and also not quite as energetic and lively as the X14's. A little restrained... which is not what I'm looking for in my next speaker. I did see the Totem Sky, I think it's supposed to be under $2000 CDN right?? That might be one I want to hear before going ahead with buying anything else. Do you think they will also put out a matching center channel to go with it? You would think so since the Model One's had a center channel model too. |

For now Model One center matches that in phase and tonally with amore expensive price tag than what the sky center will be for sure but for now it has not been worked on yet, Totem moves a bit slow but I am sure you could get an amazing price on a floor model of Model One Center which for sure would match with the Skys and i would not be worried at matching tonally. I had a Forest paired with M1S center channel as my right speaker for an experiment and You could swear 2 Forests were playing and imaging was spot on, The Sky does replace the M1S and is part of the same family but at a cheaper price tag, That bookshelf is small and stand only 12 inches tall. My guess is Totem wants to make sure they have cleared their M!S-C inventory which would match the Sky anyways I am sure. Only reason for Totem to stop production of M1S is Dynaudio could not continue to supply the older generation drivers. Totem kept enough of those drivers to make sure they cover the 5 years warranty. I'm really intrigued by the Totem Sky... I think I'll be waiting to hear them before purchasing anything. And I think I saw they had a M1S center display model on the shelf last time I was in there... maybe some nice discount on that with a pair of Sky's, who knows ![]() I also got to listen to the Totem Kin's last time I was in there. Pretty impressive for $500 CDN. Something about the high's though... slightly plastic/artificial sounding with a bit too much sibilance,... I think that's what it's called. Not sure I could live with them for too long. Definitely sounds miles better than any HTIB setup though, very detailed/textured and open sounding. Imaging was insane no matter where we placed them. All in all, I still preferred the presentation from my RC-Mini's, and the RC-Mini's also put out noticeably more bass, even though the midbass drivers in both measure almost exactly the same size. Still top contender for me right now is the X14's though! ![]() |

Sky will likely be a round speaker much like the M1S and hopefully they don't present flaws in the highs like the Forests did but not the Forest Signature, I don't expect them to since the soft dome tweeter is more forgiving than metal domes. What about the X-18? Not sure i think the retail is 2200 in the US but $2600 Canadian. |
