Good find. So if you did not get this one obscure poster book you would never know?

"Anthony Fredrickson wrote the piece and appearing in Star Wars Official Poster Monthly 4, released in January 1978. It detailed the training and organization of the Stormtroopers, and was the first source to reveal the fact that many were clones."

This however was not common knowledge. In fact nothing idicates in any of my memorbilla that Stormtroopers were in fact clones.

But that is at least proof that something was written by "someone" back in Jan of 1978.

Now on to the midi-chlorians.

Original Documents? A Poster Book? I just looked though all of my memorbillia from 77 to 83 when we were discussing this before and I could find nothing for any of these questions posed. I am not saying they do not exist but what I am saying is that they must have been pretty obscure for fans not to have common knowledge of them. Not even Bantha tracks disscusses them. They discuss men joining the emipre and going to the academy to become troopers....

Yeah, I know. People only read what they want to read. At least that stupid "savestarwars" site is offline by now.

I didnt know about that exact Poster book. I only knew of Lucas ideas behind the Troopers but not that it was published in the poster book. Thanks again for posts like that.

I usually only take for granted what either said in the movies or is said by George Lucas himself. After Episode 2 it has become clear that the Troopers are Clones.

I already discussed that matter with you if you remember.
They go back to at least 1977. They are also introduced in TPM...

What's weird is that all of their voices changed in 20 years. They went from having the same voice as Jango Fett to many different voices. I guess cloning technology declined...

Of course I would. It said in the movies. Doesn matter if it was written in 1977 or 2002 or whatever... Doesnt change the facts one bit.

It does not change the fact that for 20 years it was not common knowledge? Really?

Nope.

The original source doesnt have to be Jango Fett anymore... there are more than one "source-persons" maybe. Boba has the same voice as Jango does for example.

I buy it - good enough explanation for me!

(Not sure what your point is about Boba though.... He'd obviously have the same voice and the same voice as the original Cloonetroopers since their "dad" was Jango)

I appears to me, that this information was published and then it was decided it was a not a good idea to give away future plot points.

That said, I knew all about this stuff as a kid. There was another book that came out about famous monsters (not the magazine) and Boba was in there and it was stated he was a clone in there.

The problem with that info was we didn't know if it was serious.

Now we know that Lucasfilm only had two people running the merchandise department and they answered to Lucas directly. I think it was actually run out of Park House at that time, but I might be off on that.

Anyways, it doesn't matter who knew it. It was out there and if we are going to speak as authorities on something, we should know that. We can't call a man a crook and a liar when there is evidence he was not lying or misleading anyone or that revisionist history is taking place. It obviously is not. The difference is that he didn't flesh these ideas out until much later.

These ideas appear in many different places. Also, this was one of the only Star Wars products available that first year and it was widely produced. I see them often at antique stores.

In The Force Unleashed 2 in the extras, I distinctly remember some sort of journal written by one of the clones saying few are left and that the Empire has taken on a lot of others besides the clones.

Maybe, but that has nothing to do with the actual Star Wars Saga... it out of the Expended Universe which doesnt mesh with the Episodes of the Saga.

I remember reading somewhere that Palpatine ordered the cloners to stop cloning troopers, cause in the DK book for ROtS, it says that academies across the galaxy opened up for non-clone officers, so you can assume that Palpatine stopped cloning troops, and got regular people to join his Empire ranks

I'm sure George Lucas said himself that when the first game was released that The Force Unleashed is in fact canon however.

The commentary for AOTC has Lucas saying that eventually people want their cousins cloned out of vanity and things like that. They stopped being Jango clones exclusively by Episode IV.

We do see non-clone Imperial Officers in Ep. III. This shows that the Empire doesn't include clones anymore.

Officers and Commanders are human recruits - Troopers are clones!
