Which was a mistake.

As far as trailers go, maybe we’ll get one come October or December?

I could see a teaser before WW84 in October, though I personally think that's still too early. I think they should give it a mention, and show a little something, during the Inception promo. But don't start any serious marketing before next year.

Nearly a year before release was definitely an error on their part. I think just quick glimpses here and there before ramping things up late winter would be a good way to go.

WB put the Detective Pikachu trailer out far in advance too and that one underperformed as well. It wasn't a flop but it should have done a lot better.

Detective Pikachu actually did very well. Highest grossing Video Game Movie of all time and they are already working on continuations and spin offs for it. Def not close to being a flop in the slightest.

I am disappointed with the delay, but the main upside is that May with regards to COVID I imagine is still going to be a much safer release window than November; the selfish side of me wishes I could just rent to stream it at home with the original date but ultimately I think the decision is completely understandable.

Plus, it means I can save my Godzilla/Kong movie marathon until January and start 2021 off with a real bang.

Many pegged Detective Pikachu as a sure fire billion dollar film before it opened, it did less than half of that worldwide. I'd say if anything it underperformed.

A billion for Detective Pikachu? That was never a realistic scenario. Anyone who was expecting that was smoking serious crack.

I'd say it would have been very lucky to go over 500 million. Pokemon has a strong following, but it right now is certainly nowhere near as all encompassing as it seemed in the late 90's/early 2000's heyday. Maybe in the first year of Pokemon Go's release it might have broken the barrier but well, it did what it did.

I followed Pokemon through its heyday with Gen 1, and Gen 2 was pretty cool as well which I followed for a while, but after that it just got too much for me. I mean, more Pokemon is nice but it's just crazy at this point. There used to be a time where I knew all 151 Pokemon by heart without having to look them up, but then 500+ more Pokemon came along over time and just.. "over-saturated it", I think are the right words to describe it for me. I'll always love Pokemon though, but not the newer Gens.

The same thing happened with Power Rangers. I loved MMPR at the start, but then they just started to add more new rangers and different suits and zords and I just lost all interest, because they had something good and over-saturated it for me. Too much of something isn't always a good thing IMO.

Having said that though, I did thoroughly enjoy Detective Pikachu despite never playing the game it's based off of, so there's that.

I thought Detective Pikachu was one of the weirdest movies I've ever seen.

While I'm sure that I've said this before, but now that a trailer for GvK seems a ways off now with the new May release, I'd be curious as to which author Legendary has chosen for the novelisation; that and maybe Warner could release a UHD for G'14 to tide us over.

It just wasn't that good. For some reason I bought the Steelbook, don't think I ever viewed it.

Well, with the other two seasons of MMPR, they just add footage from Dairanger and Kakuranger while reusing footage of Zyuranger.

On a side note, In Space, Jungle Fury and RPM are pretty great. If you ever curious about revisiting PR, I recommend you start with those.

I've seen stuff about them but nah. I'm just a fan of the first season of MMPR, up until the White Ranger enters, it sort of lost me after that because Green Ranger > White Ranger IMO, and then they started changing the Zords and it was just meh for me. But, I will love the original MMPR until the end of time.

The world building was the best part of the movie. Everything else wasn’t so great. It should have been Who Framed Roger Rabbit but with Pokémon.

I just realized that Kyle Chandler was in both Peter Jackson's King Kong and Godzilla: King of Monsters.
