Borderline, that doesn't even have a SNIFF of a release over here, is getting a bluray release in the states.

Default The "Why The Heck Is This Not On Blu-ray?!?" Thread

A thread to discuss which films and TV Shows you are shocked haven't received a UK Blu-ray release yet.

Personally, I'm baffled that there's no Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl release yet. It has been months since it aired on BBC1, and there's still no sign of a physical Blu-ray. I can understand no 4K release, but why disrespect Wallace & Gromit like this? It's a cultural phenomenon. It deserves better than this.

Anyone know why Picturehouse didn't release Presence on Blu-ray? I know Warner Bros were involved in its release but I figured there'd at least be a DVD, but nope...nothing. Meanwhile the US got a 4K disc and a Blu-ray!?

Sadly, Picturehouse seem to be releasing less and less Blu Rays. Very disappointing.

It just hit Netflix this week here in the UK, they have a stake in the production so it’s a bit of a 50/50 if they hold complete rights to the film or if BBC can license out for home release, but it all depends on release windows, time can only tell.

There is a listing for a Bluray on Amazon France and a picture of the slipcover but the release date for June/July was recently removed.

Netflix basically ruining things then. Aardman should have stuck with the BBC and refused the extra money from Netflix.

BBC couldn’t cover the costs and it wouldn’t have been made.

So Dea Kulumbegashvilli's April got a very limited Curzon release (but it was obviously considered too sophisticated for the likes of Sheffield, so we got MissionImpossible instead). It's not on any streaming service I can find, including Curzon Home Cinema. Kind of sad that one of the most interesting films of the year seems to have disappeared.

BFI are down as the distributors. According to their website it’s hitting BFI player in July.

BFI only give select theatrical titles discs.

Pavements getting a US BD from Utopia, unsure if MUBI will bother with a UK disc considering how minimal the theatrical presence is and their usual strategy with documentaries.

Not sure if Friendship will get a UK Blu considering it’s Republic rather than mainline Paramount

Still on BBC iPlayer (for a total of a year at least).

FWIW Aardman are now out of their Netflix deal, and I reckon at least one reason they have moved on is that Netflix's restrictiveness around secondary exploitation has hit Aardman financially. Clearly there was money to be made selling the Netflix projects to TV and physical media licencing and it's just locked away thanks to Netflix's paranoid spite. Shaun The Sheep 3 next year will be their first wide theatrical release since 2019, and Sky Cinema films usually get physical releases (except The Amazing Mr Blunden for some reason).

It's on BFI Player. Mark Kermode promotes it with a review:

Is Saltburn (2023 film) available on Blu-ray/4K anywhere in the world?

Having just dumped my MUBI subscription in favour of BFI Player, was delighted to see this pop up there.
