Oh yes, grain is a lot tighter. That's partially the higher bitrate and the DV taming the brightness a bit. It is definitely worth it my opinion.

The receiver will play mono as mono, surround as surround etc unless I force it to stereo, Dolby Surround etc but somehow it was downmixing only the DTS and not Dolby but when I forced it back to Auto the rears played just fine. The other odd thing is that despite being stereo the center channel was active but not the rears so it wasn't Dolby Surround. Definitely not something I have ever experienced but problem solved so who cares.

So please disregard, the disc is now perfect. Hey, better to make a mistake and have my tail between my legs for a while than have the disc actually be incorrect as I love this movie and the OG track as well.

Great. I was just about to pop in the disc to reproduce your issue

Watching Don't Worry Darling and already feeling depressed.

But if he keeps bringing up his remuxes all the time, it's only natural that others will also keep bringing up why it isn't practical for most users here. You also won't see me going to church each Sunday telling people that they could also just go home and preach to Joe Pesci instead.

Lazy? Come on. I buy UHDs because I want to see the movie in the best possible quality. But at the end of the day, I still want to watch the movie. I don't want to do bloody homework before I can watch it.

Homework? I literally put it in the drive, click 3-4 buttons, and go do something else for 45 minutes. It's actually something every film lover should be doing because if your disc gets damaged and won't play at least you will have a digital copy that is not dependent on the internet.

There are people here that sync up laserdisc tracks to BDs which is way more work than your average person would ever do but hey it's a solution if you want say the OG Terminator mono mix to go with the great Terminator video on the latest BD.

My solution to crappy Disney releases of Chip and Dale shorts was to buy a 16mm projector and spend hundreds on 16mm prints. Not remotely practical but problem solved!
I literally did that with The Terminator. But adding something that isn't there to begin with isn't the point of this discussion, it's that a potential fault with a UHD was waved away with "oh I just can remux in whatever audio I like". We however would just like these things to be unf*cked to begin with, though thankfully this was a false alarm

Aye, true. We should not have to resort to this to get simple things like OG audio, channels in the right spots, and mixes with added SFX.

This one is seriously going OOP already? It's only been.. 2-3 months? Come on, give me a break. I can't get every DV reissue, even LESS if I have to import it..

It certainly looks like it. I've been monitoring the listings on Amazon and Best Buy for the last few weeks. It's sold out on Best Buy; it comes and goes on Amazon and the price seems to be going up...

I'm glad I got a copy of the steelbook last month, I never watched the previous UHD release but this is a stunning disc. Sold off my LaserDisc of this because I can't go back to it now, haha.

Hmm...makes you wonder why they've been labeled "Limited Editions"...

I never saw this one listed as "limited edition", only "Gattaca" and "Last Action Hero" "Spider-Man"...

All their Steelbook releases are limited editions I believe. But I agree, they should label them as such.

Maybe it's just a temporary supply chain bottleneck?

I don't own this but does this transfer look a lot "cool" than "warm" now?
