From the horror stories we keep hearing about amazon employees in warehouse (how they can barely go to the bathroom), I doubt they have time to be on their phone. This seems to be a much bigger problem than that. Employees are probably being told not to bother verifying products, just to go by the product numbers and go as fast as possible. It's all about Prime and one day shipping and how fast everything is with Amazon. It's their pride. And to do that, they have to sacrifice somewhere. I might be wrong but I have a feeling that's a big part of it.

You are absolutely correct, Fred25 of Montreal.

Why are Amazon prices so cheap? Partly because they don’t pay their employees, or gig-workers, or delivery contractors, a living wage.

Amazon customers: you get what you pay for. Adjust your expectations accordingly.

Not that resellers like yourself care.
It’s weird how you assumed I was a reseller because I said others here are as bad rfders. If my standard for “abusing” the system is stricter, how could you possibly reach the conclusion I was a reseller like the RFD people you complain about?… it’s almost like you were projecting this on to me… it’s a bit suspicious.

Now maybe it’s just a case of miscommunication, where you meant resellers and but wrote “rfders”, because you have a difficult telling them apart even though resellers make a tiny fraction of rfders. I guess the crux of your argument was that because no one here resells, that using the same tactics is somehow different and that the vendor cares about why the abuse occurred. The point of my post was just pointing out that people are using the same tactics as someone from RFD to get better deals, and that’s fine as we all like great deals, but ignoring the similarities is intellectually dishonest.

For clarity, I am not throwing any shade on people here trying to get the best deal they can.

My order with first Columbo set arrived in great condition (outer box and cases) except when was checking inside that all the discs were correct (no duplicates/missing ones), most of the discs were loose and not clicked into the sprockets. The discs look fine otherwise. Order was in box with another unrelated order (first time Amazon has combined orders for me in same box). The second order with Columbo The Return has been split up into multiple shipments and the part with Columbo has not shipped yet, so hoping for the best they will arrive safely unscathed

Yep. Although I heard about the deal on Reddit. I'm also a RFDer but I don't abuse deals or resell.

I haven't been able to get this deal to work since last night. Yesterday afternoon I put a bunch of stuff in my cart and the discount was showing but I was at work so couldn't buy it. Then when I got home in the evening, I looked at my cart again and the discount was gone even for the stuff I saved. Now I can't get any combination to give me the buy 3 get 1 free deal. is it over?

You have to be careful. Some of the links to the movies lead to 3rd party sellers therefore don't provide the discount. Make sure to select the copy sold directly from Amazon.

I did notice a few new movies in the free category today. Nothing of interest for me.

Oh, I know and all the movies I had in my cart were sold and shipped by amazon. Still not working. Has anyone been able to actually get the deal working today? Like confirm an order? Still not showing in my cart.

Personally, I grew up with it, it was my grandma's favorite show and lately i've been rewatching the first season on dvd (I always miss my grandma around Christmas and I usually try to watch something during the holidays that I used to watch with her). It will be great to see it on blu ray for the first time.

Also, I see people complaining in here. I'm sorry but I see nothing wrong with some of us getting the Columbo sets for such a good price, it's amazon's deals (and their mistakes) and some of us have been wanting these sets for a while now, just not at the price it was being sold for.

Also, all i've seen in this thread are people excited about this deal and getting to watch Columbo again. I have no idea why that's wrong and why any of us are RFDers or whatever that means.

Edit: Got my first Columbo set (the second one will be coming later) and it was in a super cheap enveloppe but thankfully, it's in great condition, hurray! Looks great on the shelves next to my Outer Limits blu ray from Kino.
Now, if only I can convince my wife to watch a few with me haha.
Lets not gaslight people this way. Columbo was a perfectly fine show, just as The Rockford Files were. But this isn't Twin Peaks, The Sopranos, The Prisoner, The Twilight Zone, The Fugitive or even something like Alfred Hitchcock Presents.

Its cool you like it and I am happy that you and others got a good deal on this but lets not shit ourselves or others. It is at best a 3\5 series.

Deal appears dead now. I tried adding a combo to my cart and it's now showing as full price.

Um, ok? Not sure how I was gaslighting people with my post...? I mean, Columbo IS one of the most famous and popular show of all time. Everybody knows Columbo, even if they've never watched it. I'm not sure how you can deny that... I wasn't even talking about the quality of the show, so I find your post quite puzzling here.

Also, on a personal note, I'll take Columbo and The Rockford files any days over more modern shows like The Sopranos or Twin Peaks (but that's just my personal taste, so don't take it TOO personally). Although I will agree The twilight zone is on another level (probably the greatest show I ever watched).

In the last few years, I've really come to love older 60's and 70's shows. I've been watching lately (alternating between them) Wanted: Dead or alive, Gunsmoke, The Andy Griffith shows, Miami Vice, Columbo, The Rockford files, Rawhide, Bonanza and a few other old gems. As someone who didn't grow up with most of those shows (outside of Columbo), it's been such a revelation to find out how frigging good tv could be before my time.

That is fine and all but you need to realize you are in the minority here. So yes Colombo the character is popular just like say Perry Mason. But whether the lead character wins a popularity or name recognition contest has no bearing on the quality of the series in question which is what is at the heart here.

Columbo is not one of the greatest series of all time. Have a look at any list of the best TV series of all time and I guarantee you, you will seeTwin Peaks, The Prisoner and Sopranos and likely all in the in the Top 10. Columbo may be on such a list but only if it is 100 entries long and it would be there chilling out with Murder She Wrote and Dallas.

But on the surface of the show, Columbo is purely network TV dreck of the time and little else. It didn't change the course of TV or evolved it any way.

So again, its greats you and others have found a great deal here but to state it is something it is not is bananas, especially when others may take your word as gospel and blind buy this for fear of FOMO.

Placed another order today:

Cowboy Bebop: The Complete Series at $29.99
Attack on Titan: Final Season - Part 2 at $37.99 (Not as good a price as $34 for Season 3, but I went for it anyway.)

Dude, let it go. I never said once it's considered one of the greatest show. I said one of the most famous and popular. I'm not sure why you're so stuck on this. Also, you are the one calling the show a dreck and gaslighting the thread here. This is the amazon deal thread. If you want to blast the show, go to it's own thread (i'm sure people will love you there).

Anyway, moving on...

Columbo is one of my favourite shows of all time (certainly in my personal top ten). I paid full price for the 70's Kino box from a brick and mortar shop in Toronto as soon it was released and it was worth every penny.

Why do you keep listing series you think are better than Columbo? No one cares... People got a $100+ box set for free essentially, what's the worst thing that can happen if you blind bought it and end up not liking it? Make money reselling it?

Yeah, I think you're in the wrong thread. If you want to spew a minority opinion like that, you should go to the Unpopular Movie Opinions thread, located here:

Columbo is a classic. I'm VERY happy to finally own these sets.

Canada Black Friday Update.

Okay, Amazon did not cancel those two orders I did the other day, but I think we were able to change the paymant method, so I guess I'm in the clear.

Granted, Dune: Part Two went from $18 to $17 mere hours after I placed the orders, just to spite me.

It also turns out that the Andor SteelBook was indeed the 4K edition.
"Star Wars: Andor - The Complete First Season [Blu-ray] (Bilingual)", my arse!
Oh well, it was basically free. I'm not 100% sure if I'll keep it, or gift it to someone with a 4K setup.
The SteelBook appears pristine, though I'm keeping it in the shrinkwrap for now.

Everything came in good condition, no busted cases for scratched discs.
Dune 2, Quiet Place D1, Red Dragon, and Black Adam came with slipcovers.

The replacements for the two Blu-rays I bought for my niece & nephew also arrived today.
They're are in better conditon, though not exactly mint, but I'll take it.
