My guess is:
1. Alabama 2. Oregon 3. Florida State 4. Ohio State This is an easy out for the committee since it avoids the Baylor-TCU debate and their reasoning will be that the Big 12 doesn't have a championship game. Plus Ohio State is better than TCU or Baylor for TV ratings. |

Oh I'm not saying it wouldn't be BS, but I certainly believe it's reality. I can easily see this committee dropping FSU to #5 after a close win in the conference title game considering all the other top contenders won in blowouts. Though as much as it would suck for FSU it would be a good thing long-term. Leaving an undefeated FSU out of the playoff would set off a firestorm of controversy and probably lead to an 8 team playoff sooner rather than later.

Which is dumb. What's the point of the rankings if you're just going to do proximity? Just rank them all as #1 and then say every team will be as close to home as possible.

And why not Alabama at #4?
FSU has a legitimate claim for #1. Then you take the 3 1-loss teams. Yes, Alabama has some of the better wins, but TCU and then Oregon have the better losses. So, you put Alabama at 4 and you get the same thing. |

Well the only way that could happen is if they keep FSU at #4 because there's no way Alabama is dropping from #1. As far as "no chance" goes tell that to the committee members who reportedly have FSU around #10 as has been widely rumored. Never say never when it comes to this committee's decisions.

Here are the ESPN panel of experts picks for who they think should make the playoff. Seems the consensus is Alabama, Oregon, FSU, Ohio St. in that order.
Alabama - 41/41 Oregon - 41/41 FSU - 40/41 Ohio St. - 24/41 TCU - 12/41 Baylor - 6/41 |

That sounds about right, I wonder if it would be the same if the two Big 12 teams were Texas and Oklahoma instead.

One major conference is getting left out. Since the Big 10 has more pwer I'm hoping it's them that gets left out. That will not go well. That will help push an 8-16 team playoff sooner.

I know. But if it's the ACC, it's the only one with an undefeated team.
