I wonder how this game would have gone if Smelter hadn't been hurt on an unflagged late hit in the UGA game

My guess is:

1. Alabama
2. Oregon
3. Florida State
4. Ohio State

This is an easy out for the committee since it avoids the Baylor-TCU debate and their reasoning will be that the Big 12 doesn't have a championship game. Plus Ohio State is better than TCU or Baylor for TV ratings.

Lost 2 championship games to Florida St by a combined 8 points

But we did beat the spread today, for any of the gamblers out there

Orange Bowl should be Georgia Tech against Michigan State (highest rated non- conference champion from Big 10 or SEC).

I'm having a real hard time seeing the committee drop down TCU 2 spots even though they played a garbage opponent this last game. The Vegas betting lines still seem to think it'll be Alabama/Oregon/FSU/TCU. In fact most betting futures lines give Baylor a better chance of making the playoff than Ohio St. I could see FSU missing the cut before TCU.

Again, that would be bullshit. In fact, the entire ACC should sit out if that happens. They played Oklahoma State, Florida and Notre Dame out of conference. It's not like they tried to schedule nobodies like TCU and Baylor.

Oh I'm not saying it wouldn't be BS, but I certainly believe it's reality. I can easily see this committee dropping FSU to #5 after a close win in the conference title game considering all the other top contenders won in blowouts. Though as much as it would suck for FSU it would be a good thing long-term. Leaving an undefeated FSU out of the playoff would set off a firestorm of controversy and probably lead to an 8 team playoff sooner rather than later.

FSU is in, there's no doubt about it. It really comes down to which of the remaining three teams will get that #4 spot.

I heard something similar on Mad Dog about that scenario. The committee has dropped FSU already this season even though they are undefeated, while bumping up 1 loss teams with blow out wins. Since tonight was pretty much the same thing, what's stopping them from doing it again? Either way they look bad. They keep them out, there will be backlash. They keep them in after dropping them all this time, then what was the point of dropping them all this season?

There is absolutely no chance FSU is left out of the playoff. It has been rumored they keep tinkering with the rankings to ensure that FSU and Alabama get to play in the Sugar Bowl, near their fans.

Which is dumb. What's the point of the rankings if you're just going to do proximity? Just rank them all as #1 and then say every team will be as close to home as possible.

And why not Alabama at #4?

FSU has a legitimate claim for #1. Then you take the 3 1-loss teams. Yes, Alabama has some of the better wins, but TCU and then Oregon have the better losses. So, you put Alabama at 4 and you get the same thing.

Well the only way that could happen is if they keep FSU at #4 because there's no way Alabama is dropping from #1. As far as "no chance" goes tell that to the committee members who reportedly have FSU around #10 as has been widely rumored. Never say never when it comes to this committee's decisions.

Here are the ESPN panel of experts picks for who they think should make the playoff. Seems the consensus is Alabama, Oregon, FSU, Ohio St. in that order.

Alabama - 41/41
Oregon - 41/41
FSU - 40/41
Ohio St. - 24/41
TCU - 12/41
Baylor - 6/41

That sounds about right, I wonder if it would be the same if the two Big 12 teams were Texas and Oklahoma instead.

29 in a row baby. Collage football the only sport where you get penalize for just winning, I know we look awful at times but we have won every game we should have not drop no more than number 2 at worst. If we are left out I'm leading a mob to roit in the streets.

One major conference is getting left out. Since the Big 10 has more pwer I'm hoping it's them that gets left out. That will not go well. That will help push an 8-16 team playoff sooner.

I know. But if it's the ACC, it's the only one with an undefeated team.
