Typical response. You’ve basically got nothing and trying to deflect. Vilya (& others) already pointed out how none of your personal conclusions hold weight. None of which have to do with the subject at hand. People will still eat, buy, vote, etc the way they feel. Nothing is going to change that.

If you don’t want that response, don't post in such a manner. Anyway, I’m not going backwards and forwards. I’m entitled to my view, I will leave it there.

See, there lies the problem. You, like several of the thread trolls have been given weight by giving you this constant rebuttal and fueling the need to have the last word. You’ve got nothing (and neither do the rest of us) to the discussion. So you post these outrageous claims in its place

Stop throwing words like ‘Troll’ around for a start. I have frequented this thread from the start so calm yourself down.

Many of us have changed the subject countless times on here. Stop trying to be Mr big.

By the way, you have a lot of posts for someone who has nothing to say.

Exactly, with nothing to show but outrageous claims that “Them kids with their smart phone are gonna ruin the moving pictures!” Don’t poke the bear and act surprised when it mauls your face off

Steedeel, your predictions don't bother me as I find them to be riotously funny. But your posts about vegans eschewing display screens is not relevant to this thread because it is so ridiculously improbable. You may as well talk about extinction level events like a direct asteroid strike as that is more likely than what you are carrying on about.

You spin your vegan conspiracies all you like, but you will never convince me, nor I doubt anyone else, that morally conflicted guilt ridden vegans will abandon all, or even any, devices with a display screen. There are not enough vegans, let alone fanatical orthodox vegans, to endanger the market for such devices. Their employers and the rest of us will more than take up any inconsequential slack that your overactive imagination can envision.

If someone uses any device or service they are condemning they are a hypocrite. Plan and simple. The world is a big place with varying views. Which is why the more it changes, the more it stays the same. The only thing that changes is how fast we receive information and the technology we receive it with. We’re only a few grunts from throwing shit at one another as a species.

[Show spoiler]
That's great, but if you used a wired connection with outdated and unshielded Cat5 ethernet cable, like you know who does, those 16 Mbps Netflix streams that you receive wirelessly would instantly transform into super duper 16 Mbps Netflix streams. Instead of being semi-permeable streams, they would be rock solid like that same individual's head.

Dude, I’ve been listening to this same garbage for 9 years. Only the names have changed in whatever you feel is going to be the end of physical format as we know it. Smartphones, millennia’s, SJW, vegens, etc. Nothing you have predicted has come to pass that wasn’t already in place. You are a broken record playing the same song to another crowd.

Not sure if anyone has read these comparisons -

The Grand Budapest Hotel: Blu-ray vs. Vudu vs. iTunes vs. Amazon

A Comparison of Skyfall on iTunes, Vudu, and Blu-ray

Captain America: The Winter Soldier - Blu-ray versus iTunes, Amazon, and Vudu

Django Unchained: Blu-ray vs. iTunes vs. Vudu HDX

Gravity: iTunes versus Vudu versus Blu-ray

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire - iTunes vs. Vudu vs. Blu-ray

Life of Pi: iTunes vs. Vudu vs. Blu-ray (updated)

Argo: iTunes vs. Vudu vs. Blu-ray

In each one of these comparisons, the streaming versions can look plenty acceptable. But none of them come close to Blu-ray. I'm curious to see exactly what compression parameters the streaming providers are using as people keep pushing this myth that they keep improving the compression all the time. Or this 'adaptive' compression that compresses less with better internet connection. If that was true, I should be getting the exact same as Blu-ray over my 200mbps connection. Likely it works the same way as Plex where you just have the server or machine on the other end compressing things. Blu-ray runs at what about 30mbps on average? So why not just push a 30mbps average 1080p stream over the connection?

Well, to be fair. Only alchav21 has made those claims, but only if you’re hard wired In all seriousness, Wendell and a few others probably have the tech knowledge to answer your questions.

Streaming quality has been stagnant since 2015. Same codecs, same anemic bitrates. Vudu streams 4K content at 15 Mbps, Netflix streams 4K content at 16 Mbps, Amazon is comparable, and only Apple's 4K TV streams 4K content as high as 30 Mbps. Their HD bitrates are far lower; Netflix streams high definition content at just under 6 Mbps.

To provide some contrast, the maximum bitrate of a blu-ray disc is 48 Mbps with averages near 40 Mbps being very common. A 100 GB capacity 4K disc has a maximum bitrate of 128 Mbps with averages in the range of 80-90 Mbps being common.

https://www.howtogeek.com/338983/how...s-netflix-use/

https://www.pcworld.com/article/128205/article.html

https://www.whathifi.com/advice/ultr...u-need-to-know

Adaptive streaming, ironically, often adjusts the bitrate downwards to accommodate slower internet connections or deteriorating network conditions. No matter how fast your internet connection is, those bitrates listed in my first paragraph and in the first linked article are the most that you are going to receive from those providers. Streaming is very highly compressed and the resultant compression artifacts are often quite obvious.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adapti...rate_streaming

Streaming does look "plenty acceptable" and that is why I still subscribe to such services, but discs offer the best quality by every objective measure.
