I liked some of what I saw from them, and then somethings I still have questions about, looks like they could either take a big step forward or a big step back.

They have 13 players out on suspension including like 7 starters. They never had a chance. I'll give them credit for not allowing this to become a huge blowout.

They looked great, that was one hell of a game. Its rare to see a college game so back and forth yet so so exciting this early in the season. The irish could have a very big year.

Yes yes yes, I hate Ole Miss with a passion and this is the best loss ever.

My Vols put a whooping on the UT Martin Skyhawks too, 50-0. Nice start for Coach Dooley. We have Oregon next week, I am worried about that one, but I still have hopes that we can stay in the game and maybe pull one out on em.

Oregon might be the best team in the Pac-10 this year. They beat a scrub team 72-0 yesterday and it could have been 100-0 if they didn't pull their starters a halftime. Their 2nd string running back had over 200 yards and 5 TD's despite playing only the first half of the game. Thankfully for the Vols they have Oregon at home. They should still be underdogs though.

I still worry about Oregon's D and offensive consistency against real teams. I never count these early games as mattering much

Underdogs for sure. We are rebuilding, that happens when you have 3 coaches in 3 years. Our D looks pretty solid but young. I have no illusions that we are gonna beat Oregon, but I always have hope, albeit small.

To bad you lost Kiffin it looked from last year he'd have you guys in NC contention within 2-3 years... To play that well against Florida, Bama, exc. in his first year.

Yeah I liked him when he was there. However, I am glad he left. His heart was not in Tennessee, he had pictures of Southern Cal players everywhere and talked only about UT players aspiring to be like USC guys. Tennessee has plenty of players that the current players should wanna be like not USC players. I also feel we may have been in contention in a few years, but also under NCAA Investigation too.

Come on now. Kiffin is possibly the most overrated coach in all of football. He sucked with Oakland and was mediocre at best in one year at Tennessee. How this guy keeps reeling in big coaching opportunities I have no idea. I'll bet USC never comes remotely close to the Pete Carroll days with this guy as head coach.

Nobodies done well in oakland and actually he had things headed in a positive direction and was smart enough not to want to take russell but when you get overruled in your job its kind of hard to be successful

Then @ ut he out played almost every top sec team but lost in the end in his first year and was a lucky blocked kick away from beating the national champs and upending the rankings...

I don't think he's the greatest but he's never been anywhere long enough to get a grasp on the job he's done. But like I said everywhere he's been has needed rebuilding or a total overhaul yet he's still gotten things headed in a positive way.

proving my point try to be successful in that type of environment. He had a solid foundation starting to take shape there before he got run out and overruled.

By no means is he a successful coach yet or even a proven one, but what we've seen is he is able to get teams ready to play and possibly set for successful seasons if he stays or isn't run out. He could go bust'o at USC in 5 years and I'd say ok he couldn't do it over a long period of time, but right now its not been long enough to make an adequate assessment of his coaching ability, but thats just my take on it

You think they're ranked #3 in the country because they suck or something? Wow I can't believe they're ranked #3 in the country, don't think they've ever been that high.

No I think they're ranked that high because over the years they've had good teams/ seasons but they could be that good (I just don't put much stock into beating our overrated ACC teams like the analysts will do tomorrow if they rout vtech), where as Vtechs exc. get ranked just because of the school name/ history.
