La Haine and Revanche are actually on Filmstruck so you can try before you buy.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm not familiar with Filmstruck. Not sure when B&N sale ends but if I have time tomorrow, I'll try to check out Filmstruck. Appreciate the info.

But Aaron, you really owe it to yourself to see Leave Her to Heaven. It's a stunning film, and she's mesmerizing in it, playing a beautiful woman whose porcelain face masks a heart devoid of warmth. She was nominated for an Oscar, and I'm one of those who believe she should have won; instead, they gave it to, well ... someone else. As critic and historian David Thomson summarized in "Have You Seen ...?": "She [Tierney] is amazing as Ellen, in ways she never matched before or since ... Tierney was nominated for an Oscar as Best Actress, and she lost to Joan Crawford in Mildred Pierce. You can see why: Crawford had more than paid her dues; she had made a serious comeback; and Mildred Pierce is a valuable and important picture. But if you want a wild thrill one night, I know which way I'd go."
I will see it soon. A ringing endorsement from both you and Thomson? How can I not?

Its the new streaming home of Criterion. Right now they're offering a 14 day free trial of the service.

The criterion selection looks great, but I was left wanting on the TCM side--which is probably a bigger draw as I've seen most of the Criterion Collection (all the bluray collection and a good portion of everything else)

I was joking and half-asleep when I posted this last night, but the more I think about it, the more I can see it actually happening - along with maybe one or two others from James Cameron (your guesses are as good as mine).

1. True Lies has never gotten a proper OAR release, and it's not yet on Blu-ray even after all these years.

2. It's considered one of Arnie's best action movies. (I personally consider it overrated, but it's still good fun.)

3. We've seen Criterion do this before, by presenting what they feel is the "best example" of a certain genre - Robocop, Armageddon, etc. - or whatever reasoning they used to put those into the Collection. (I actually wish Robocop would return, and I'd love for Total Recall - Arnie's best film - to be added too.)

Have there been any clues in any of the previous drawings? No one in their right mind would have been looking for True Lies before, but what if it's been hidden in there all this time?

Yeah, see, there are a ton I am missing. I only have like 55 Criterions. Now, some of those are box sets, so multiple movies obviously. But still. That's a lot that I don't have. Well, I've also got about 25, also including some boxes, in DVD that Criterion hasn't seen fit to upgrade (Bergman trilogy! ).

But that's a lot of stuff that I will enjoy. And at what, $6 a month? Hell, I probably lose that much per month.

If any of you are region-free, some of the UK Criterion releases are currently cheaper than $20 each on Amazon UK.

Yeah, I'm region free, but most of those I already have. I'm looking into getting the few that I don't own.

Thanks.

You're welcome! I figured this would help a few of us that aren't B&N members save a few bucks.

Would like to try it but my streaming is through my blu ray player and I can't get filmstruck. Can't use Amazon Firestick as my TV has no portal for it.

I am all for True Lies, but I think the more likely candidate would be The Abyss which would be fine too, both of which is crazy to think that don't have a blu-ray release by now.
