Hey rdodolak watch the live feed on the Dark Force Facebook page from the other night. I laid the whole thing out to a very big audience. And I've only just begun with Synapse and Vlado P. Hreljanoprick lol.

Are you asking someone from this forum to go on a live feed to insult you for a few minutes? I think we could get a wide assortments of users here to do that, but you gotta promise to take in all on the chin and not have a meltdown once it's over.

I'm not asking for Star Wars, but Julie Darling did not look good. You're absolutely right, some of the "grime" is absolutely the charm. I wouldn't want Texas Chainsaw Massacre to look "perfect", but JD looked like no clean up/restoration was done, on par with a print I saw screened a few years back. To me, that asks, why not have just done a blu-ray, but spent some of the extra money that you said it cost for 4K to then restore the film a little bit. You and I are on the same page that the flaws are sometimes the charm, but in this it kind of seems like it didn't need to be a 4K release if the source was up to snuff.

I promise I'm not trying to troll you. I expressed my issues and you went 0-100mph. Your website is down VERY frequently. Multiple times I went to go purchase or shop some titles I saw folks on here mentioned. Store "down temporarily". Check again later that day "store down temporarily". Give up, see the thread bumped, check the store, it's "down temporarily". Then just recently, where our interactions started, you posted rambling statements about a Label War that is going to shake the foundations, etc. If what happened with Synapse is what it appears, you're 100% right an its horrible what they are doing/have done. But maybe if some of that effort was put into keeping the store open, putting more into the film restoration, etc things might pick up and you wouldn't have to give up on 4K releases. Once again, these are just my thoughts, you're obviously free to do what you want. But these Fight Night style posts aren't going to increase buisiness. I'm not trying to "fight you", if you release stuff I want, I'll purchase it, you just make it difficult.

You gave him too much of a rational response which he may or may not even read half of. You made a lot of good points and hopefully he takes it in stride and uses it as an effective learning tool to do right.

Still if David Defalco wants to set up a livestream where he argues with fans, I think that would be a cool idea. I know I'd be invested in showing up, as long he doesn't take everything too personal.

One of my criticisms of early Dark Force UHDs is the lack of restoration/cleanup work. Scream and Dead Pit both had amounts of print damage that I was not used to seeing in UHD upgrades. However, I have to give Dave credit because he has listened to constructive feedback and started to do more cleanup work. I watched the Mirror Mirror and House of Seven Corpses UHDs recently and I thought they were significant improvements on earlier releases.

As wild as this label can be sometimes, I would have to offer the bold claim that Dark Force is one of the few labels out there actually listening to fans and trying to improve their product in a show of good faith.

Sure seems that way after asking another user to "fight" him after that user actually gave them some active feedback.

We can have print damage cleanup and steel cage matches.

People don't care for the most part what I rant about. But they do obviously care about what we release. JULIE DARLING we actually did do clean up restoration on and I will show the technicians that worked on it this post. The only thing I can think of with JULIE DARLING is we did not have original negative for the new 4K scan which is the best element to use. I believe we had the Internegative, so I don't know if that is what you are referring to. Nevertheless it was one of our earlier 4K releases that is a strong seller that we haven't had any complaints on except you. With regards to the fighting, I've been a little testy lately due to the war with SYNAPSE. Watch the recent Facebook live feed if you want to learn more about it. It is despicable and affected many in this business. We have some great things coming for BLACK FRIDAY including the first ever Dark Force Trading Cards which are going to be top of the line incredible...no exaggeration.

We do many live streams Duke and believe it or not there is not much arguing at all. Most of the fans are extremely cool barring an occasional troll that pops in here and there.

I'll be there black Friday to see what you have in store and I do appreciate this response. I'm glad to own the JD4K, it just felt lacking to me is all. Not to say it's not worth the purchase.

I did indeed watch the video and Synapse definitely seems to be very petty and scummy. I do wish the best on that front.

Hey Scott...THANK YOU MAN. I'm sorry I came at you aggressive previously, I have been very amped up over the whole situation with Synapse. What they did to this business is absolutely DEPLORABLE and they are hiding like cowards behind their maggot weasel lawyer partner hoping no one would find out what they pulled. But TRUTH is for the last 3 years they along with that other little weasel Vlado Jr. (Son of producer of JUST BEFORE DAWN) pulled off a huge MONEY GRAB at the expense of the dying Bill and Walt Olsen and many other big and RESPECTED players in this business with their BS lawsuit which made these greedy bastards more than they ever could have made releasing JUST BEFORE DAWN. Furthermore they have no interest in releasing it and more interest in all the money they are grabbing from their TROLLING lawsuit. And the reason I know this is because we offered them a pristine 4K scan from the original negative of JUST BEFORE DAWN to settle with Dark Force and 4 other companies including AMC they sued over the movie playing on SHUDDER for less than a year netting a measly 4k! They rejected the offer and instead tried to shake us down for 75K!! By using the federal judicial system, the cost to defend is so high most of the others sued were forced to settle or received default judgments. But Dark Force is the only one of the many sued that is doing NEITHER...by simply bearing the high cost of legal defense I can prove their lawsuit is illegitimate and reverse the whole thing back on them which would be TRIUMPHANT especially to everyone victimized by these greedy bastards. I greatly appreciate the support at Black Friday it will be the biggest one Dark Force has ever had. We are going to be announcing all the insane new releases and the debut of the amazing Dark Force trading cards in the days to come as we approach the big event. Much of the proceeds will be going to the defense fund and the greater cause to hopefully expose and rid this business of SYNAPSE once and for all. One thing is for certain we all love this business and there is no room for scum like this in it. Thanks again for your support...I truly appreciate it. Best DDD

I actually disagree; I do want TCM and its ilk to be pristine. If the director intentionally added flaws (like what Scorsese did to the last act of Taxi Driver), that should definitely be preserved. But I don't ever want any additional flaws introduced to the final home video product if it can be helped. I lived through the VHS days and I'm not nostalgic for the drawbacks.

But really, I'm just posting to say that, as someone who's compared the DVD, Blu-ray and UHD of Julie Darling on my site, I can say for certain that clean-up work was done on the Dark Force release. There is demonstrably damage on the Code Red transfers that is no longer on the DF one - I've posted screenshots.

That's all; just wanted to help clear up that one very minor point of contention. No idea what the truth is behind this Just Before Dawn drama is (although no, Blu2u, you definitely don't speak for us all), but I hope the recovery of the negative means we're eventually leading up to a 4k release of both cuts from somebody.

If Dark Forces ends up releasing Just Before Dawn it's ultimately a loss for everyone except Dark Forces ($). I think it's fair to say that Synapse would release a far superior end product, which would be better for the fans and the film. I guess we just have to wait and see.

It obviously seems that Vlado believes these parties didn't have a license to distribute the film. Are you disputing his claim and saying that they did or ar you agreeing with him that they didn't, but tried to make amends... as it sounds like the latter?

Who contracted with AMC to have it stream on Shudder for a year?

Lawyers are also expensive, so I could see someone who believed they were wronged would ask for a higher amount.

EDIT: Got around to listening to the 1+ hour video and unfortunately it sounds like he is in the right. What I'm surprised is everyone seemed to just take everyones' word of mouth yet they all know better and you need the paperwork trail. Also, even if Bill had a hand shake deal to release more copies on Blu-ray, that doesn't mean he had the right to release it on streaming. That's where you went wrong Dave and why you (and AMC and Shudder) got pulled into it. Regardless as to what you made from the deal, the hard thing is trying to figure out what Shudder actually made by streaming the movie for a year.
