Just a little bit of TRIVIA here, adding up the run times of all three films, and considering an average runtime of an typical film of 1h50m, or 110 minutes, Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy is roughly 4 films rather than just 3. As the total run time comes to 457 minutes, or ~7.8 hours.

The same could be said about the Pirate of the Caribbean series. With those 4 films, there's about 5.5 films worth of material there.

Looks like it will be 2BD/1DVD according to this pic on Amazon:

Looks like the generic picture that has been floated around. I hope it's 2BD/1dvd, and not just 1BD.

From a logic pov, I can't see them screwing over the more die-hard demographic who are more likely to pick up the Bat Cowl, by not including a special features BD, so I definitely expect it to be included.

I like the mask edition because it is "limited" and also I picked it up when it was $27.99. The only thing I don't like it the size, it's really small.

As long as the bonus Blu-ray disc is included, I'll probably still pick it up. But pretty much only because I got it for cheaper than it is now.

At this point, having looked through all the possibilities and options of what's available and what's going to become available, I think I will just get the whole trilogy in steelbooks. The Batman Begins steelbook looks pretty boring inside and it's only a single disc, but the Dark Knight steelbook is really cool with the Joker on the back cover. I'm not particularly big on the bat cowl art of TDKR steelbook, but at least the 3 steelbooks are pretty cool as a set.

Personally, I like the more epic pictures.

I think they should have used some variation of these images for the front/back cover of TDKR steelbook:

For the trilogy art, the upcoming blu ray set is lackluster and uninspired at best. As noted in this thread already, the DVD trumps it handily. I should change my career and just create the best blu-ray collector's editions possible. Here is what they should switch it to (anyone from the design team listening?):

Anyone know if the trilogy set contains more special features than the Dark Knight Rises blu-ray by itself? I already have the other two movies on blu-ray but I'd consider getting the trilogy set if it contains additional special features not on the single movie edition.

This is what I'll be waiting to see as well. Only time will tell unfortunately.

It would have to give you something more, either exclusive bonus content, DVD discs, or some physical item. Because as it stands now the Trilogy Limited Edition Blu-ray set has 5 discs (2 per film except for Batman Begins).

It doesn't include any DVDs however. So I really hope this "ultimate" box set isn't just added DVD copies of the film. I doubt it. But we'll see what happens.

I'm thinking its an artbook... but at R590 for the set (just over $70), I'm hoping its something special! I dont have the others on bluray - so it seems like a logical purchase - and we migh not even sniff ther ultimate edition here next year. Also, the batpod version of Dark Knight was available here in DVD only - so I'm waiting to see if the store that initially got it - has anything up its sleeve for the release late next month....
Its the Art of Making the Dark Knight triogy book which is actually available already as a standalone purchase, VERY nice book though

What does it mean when it says "(Region 1 - US 2012)"?
http://www.amazon.com/Dark-Knight-Bl...+steelbook+blu

Or should I just get this version instead?
http://www.amazon.com/LIMITED-Steelb...+steelbook+blu

Also, why the price hike to $38 on this one? Does the digital copy really double the price or does the "3-discs" mean there are additional special features?

Gotta disagree. The trilogy set looks great. It's understated and shows you something symbolic of Batman, and the black and blue layout looks pretty slick.. Putting the actors on display and cluttering the design with floating heads, cool screenshots, or whatever just makes it seem like a desperate sell. "Look at all the celebrities!" The bat cowl is far more intriguing than any of the film's players.

"People need dramatic examples to shake them out of apathy. I can't do this as Bruce Wayne. A man is just flesh and blood and can be ignored or destroyed. But as a symbol... as a symbol, I can be incorruptible, everlasting."

That's what I came here to find out. With the Trilogy just going on sale for $29.96, and The Dark Knight Rises still selling for $24.99, it's only another $4.97 to get all three movies, and then I could sell my Batman Begins (single-disc blu-ray version) and The Dark Knight (two-disc blu-ray + digital copy on DVD, with slipcover).

But I don't know what all is different from the Trilogy to the individual movies. Will I get more or less special features? I'm guessing the Trilogy doesn't come with Digital Copies, but I don't care about that, I only watch blu-rays on my 52" TV. I'd like to know if the Trilogy will contain all the special features from the prior releases.

I'm currently contemplating the exact same thing with my exact same first two. I'd much prefer a trilogy so that one movie isn't under "B" while the other two are "D".

I just want to know if I should wait for the UCE next year, or if its just going to be the same transfers with more junk in the box.

I just keep all my Batman films together regardless of title.

Unless something has changed, the Trilogy does come with the BD special features for all the movies

It's a 5 disc set:

Batman Begins (special features on main disc)
The Dark Knight
The Dark Knight Special features
DK: Rises
DK: Rises Special features

No word on digital copies, but I do think it'll come with them

That's an insane price ($29.96) for all three movies. For anyone who doesn't have the first two, it's a no-brainer to pick this one up.

I thought about it, but I'll just stick with the standalone release of Rises. I'll save a few dollars that way.
