Ah. Just as I thought and was afraid of. I need new tires. The Pirellis are only rated for 20k, and I'm at 25. $1000 for a set of 4.

I knew this was coming, though.

As a tire dealer I wouldn't get Pirellis again. What size tires are they?

Odd ball low profile sizes. Camaro right? You'll be lucky to find tires that last more that 20-30k in those sizes. They'll cost a small fortune also.

Yeah thats my struggle right now. Camaro, Sean, geez. I have a quite a few options about what I can do, but those are for another forum. Just upset they're messing up my audio aspirations. I may just get the stock LS rims and tires, which run around $400 fair a set of four, rather than new Pirellis. Not like I'm racing much with it anyway.

Fixed..lol I was typing that off my iPhone and got busy at that moment so I didn't proof-read.

Is there many other brand options available? I was going to check availability on those sizes but I got sidetracked. I know some of those odd sizes (which yours probably is) only might come down to a few brands/options and sometimes hard to come by (especially with the tariff on Chinese tires...most of the tires use to come from China...tire business been a real headache the past few years).

Sean what I'm going to do is get them aligned and hope to squeeze another 5k out of them. They honestly don't look that bad.

OR! Since I'm not racing with them currently, I'll just get the basic LS tires, which are just Goodyears w/ 18" rims:

[Show spoiler]

I can squeeze lots of miles out of those in the meanwhile. Maybe paint the silver trim ring white/black to match or something.

Alright, alright, enough car talk. Off to work.

Back to HT talk!

I may be able to get my hands on B&W DS6. One or two. If I get one, I'll go 6.1, put it on the loft railing wall, and my panels on either side flanking it.

If I get two, well, panel inbetween. I may be. MAYBE.

Too much stuff to do - finetune, cable management, test using my SPL meter - but extra surrounds take precedence over headphones for now. I tried direct radiating, but I wasn't sure how to properly mount my KEFs on that wall...facing forward? No, right? Anyone think I could squeeze another sub in there, and ideas as to where to put it?

I think in 2 weeks due to work being hectic right now I can finally be concluded with all this, w/ the exception of my plan for that big wall.

Anyway, here's some better pictures.

So, am I the only one up this late, after successfully convincing the woman to let me put a 2-channel music setup in the bedroom and scheming on how to do it?

great pics man, great place. Looks like my ideal heaven!

I missed it, did you buy the place?...meaning you can do whatever you want?

I would look at what the "FORCE" did in his bedroom. I've always admired that look. Let me see if I can find a link.

Opps, my memory faded on me. It's actually 5.1 with monitor. But still, you get an idea of speakers and receiver placement:

No, Ryan, it's rental - this is our "get our life in order place" for the next 2-3 years maximum. CMU walls make running in-wall wire next to impossible.

What Im going to do is use my old bedroom tv stand, which is audio rack-ish, put my unused KEFs on stands, use my Elite SACD player from downstairs, my Marantz amp from downstairs, and buy a NAD stereo preamp, and put it all together. With space for a turntable should I get the itch.

Unless something drastic happens I plan on being here 2-3 years myself. However drastic is something that tends to happen to me all the time. The past 3 days are proof of it.

Check Audiogon...they have a ton of NAD stuff. Try to find something with a nice headphone output as well

Yeah, i have that equipment because i reorganized my tv stand. It was a little fire hazardy the way I set it up rushed the first the first time, with no cable management and my APC H15 in a precarious place, wires running haphazardly everywhere.

But now I fixed it all up, actually spending time doing good wire management with zip ties, perpendicular signal/power cables, flex tubing, etc. Safer, and I feel better about the setup. Since the MA BFXs are 6 ohm speakers, I had to switch the VSX-03 to 6 ohm mode now, to power them since I took out the Marantz amp and the Elite SACD player for upstairs. Right now, I'm torn between all the things I want to do, though. I'd need 6 ohm dipoles - I have found some nice Wharfedale EVO dipoles which will work. Id also need about 120 feet of flat wire. I also want nicer cans. Or the stereo preamp and stands, etc - I'd need to finish the two channel upstairs. It's all a matter of what I want first...

I have a friend of mine who is a fellow audio geek here in MIA, we were hanging out yesterday with our women at the zoo and then at their place - his wife had moved in with him a few months back once they got married.

Both the women said they thought that "speaker systems are more of a bachelor pad thing." Slander.

What happened to you, Sean?

And Derek, I actually found a NAD705 receiver and a NAD1020 preamp locally, just need to go test them out...

Oh good deal!

If I were you though, and had the bomb setup you do downstairs, I'd start the other way around upstairs and build sweet headphone system first then morph into 2 channel audio later.

I don't know the price of NAD gear but I can assure you for the price of a good headphone setup you'd have to spend thousands of dollars for a comparable speaker system. Oh and the sound will just blow you away...you'll cry when you hear things from your favorite songs that you've never heard before lol.

Just a thought...

So, a perfect condition Onkyo turntable and pre-amp is available locally for $80 combined.

Working order, it all works good and sounds great. Why am I so hesitant to buy it?!
