Ace, in this review, pg 2, middle column, 2nd paragraph, the reviewer describes placing the 100s (v4) 40" from the back wall to get the expected bass. Look like these big bad boys need more room probably. I am going to play around with placement this week and see if I can give my speakers a little more room to breathe.
How far out do you have your 100's right now? I've tried mine out about 30 inches but with kids 3 and 5 it quickly became a problem. They were trying to hide behind them and tripping over wires and what not. Maybe when they get a bit older but right now it seems like a recipe for diaster. I don't want to risk it, if something happened it might hurt the resale value. I like the sound of Paradigm with NAD, have you tried the t975? I'm just wondering if there's that much of a difference between that and the M25.

They will be my mains in my HT setup. Going from 7.1 to 5.1 for a while til I can save up for some sides.

My setup will be as follows:

Pioneer Elite VSX-01 Pre
Emotiva LPA-1
20 v5 MAINS
590v4 center
20 v2 rear/surrounds
2x SVS PB12s

Very nice. I may have mentioned before but I've been considering doing the same thing (i.e. using v5 20s as mains) so I'm very much looking forward to hearing your impressions once you get everything set up.

Now you play the waiting game....

Thanks guys this week is going to go by very very slowly lol. Just been reading reviews and noting the songs the reviewers used...want to hear what they heard.

This is light years away but as for side speakers:

I spoke to Paradigm. They recommend going Studio for sides/rears...390s would be good 190s wouldn't at all. Anyone have any thoughts?

I think DLS went Energy for his rears...read that post, I had the Axioms QS-8s as much as I loved them I wanted more.I was always able to localize them. Even after MCACC and tweaking as much as I could. Now I don't know if that was because everything else was Studio and they were the odd man out. I've also had Athena's...but don't tell anyone cuz I found them really bad.

Interestingly enough one reviewer used Mirage OM speakers as his rears in his reference Signature System. Go figure...anyone heard mirage speakers? They seem to be really cool in their design.

Other than Mirage the only others I'm keeping an eye out on are The Energy's which I can audition. PSBs would be nice to try also or Studio 10s as sides.

Again not buying anytime soon but sometimes specials and used stuff come up and well you HAVE to pull the trigger. just jotting down what to keep an eye out for.

Couple of things. I have had my 100s for about 4 months now, and it is just recently that the bass is starting (key word, starting) to come out of them. I was basically saying the same thing about them 2 months ago. And I still expect it to improve from here.

On top of that, I will play with the position and give them some more breathing room. I will let you know my results. But when I finally get the basement done, I will give them 30+ inches to play with.

As for the T975...it is basically the M25 with a little less power, and using the next grade down in parts. We use the T975, connected to 100s in our theatre room at the store and it sounds equally as incredible. I purchased the M25 because I could (came into a large chunk of money at the time) and figured I have no idea where my speaker life will take me...might as well go for the big one. But the T975 would have given me the same results within the confines of my current system and still had power to give.

I hope they come this weekend too...would be nice to have that time to set them up and watch some movies/listen to some tunes. Remember to take pics when they come in!

I'll never forget Guiness6's reaction when he got his.

I just saw a Craigs list ad for some Paradigms....

http://siouxfalls.craigslist.org/ele/1835523310.html

Very close to where I live, but I'm not in the market. Is that a fair price?

Having a really top notch sub improves your system more than you think. I love the sound of sealed subs too, make sure you listen to a good sealed sub before you buy.

I got an older 52" Samsung which is still very good especially for it's time but since I can't really do a PJ in this room I want to get a 65" or at least a 60" Plasma.. I'm gonna wait and seen what comes up over the next year.. Prices will probably drop on old ones too like always..

I know how important a good sub or subs are for HT but because I put the rest of my setup first that will be the last upgrade in the future to top it off! Don't even know how different a sealed sub will be vs a ported sub i haven't done any sub demoing just speakers but i will eventually..

Congrats on the purchase GAWD!!

I used to have ADP-390's as my rear surrounds in a 7.2 setup but there was just something missing from them. They probably would work better as main or side surrounds but maybe it was cuz I am using Studio 40's as my side surrounds. They were all level matched but the 40's even imaged better to my rears at 5.1 then using all speakers in 7.1. My main reason for purchasing the Energy RC-R's was for all the different modes you can use for them. I prefer a straight firing speaker I guess but mounting a bulky bookshelf on my back wall wouldn't work well since my rear seating is right against the wall. I have the RC-R's in Bi pole mode and that's got the tweeter and the woofer firing straight while the mids shoot to the sides.. I think they are best for rears in my situation with the seat against the wall since the rear seating gets good sound and the front seats get a better mix with my straight firing 40's. If I had a bigger room and my seats weren't against the wall I would probably to Studio 20's or even 10's.

Canada Studio 60s v4

Looking for your opinion...an Ontario dealer has a set of Studio 60s v4 for about $1700 Cdn. Full warranty. Good buy? He also has a CC590 v3 for about $600 Cdn.
