I see the point he's trying to make. Why go to all the trouble of releasing a classic film on blu-ray, charge more than average the blu-ray and NOT be thorough in producing the disc? The whole film is in HD so how hard is it to get the trailer in HD, too?

Also, others have mentioned the typo on the Elephant Man cover and spelling mistake in the breathless credits. These don't help peoples' perception of SC.

Wasn't the "Anne Brancroft" error exclusive to the box art posted on the internet before the disc was actually released? My copy has no typo on the cover.

My copy definitely has the typo on the cover, and was only bought three weeks ago. Heres a photo I just took. Note that its laying on top of this months Little White Lies.

Yikes!

But I will say that I am noticing this often not just with SC titles but other titles from other companies as well. Perhaps with the economy and cost cutting of staff, a lot of these companies are letting go of their copy editors.

But these things do happen (and it's happening often as we have seen in comic production, disc authoring to video game glitches) but it is unfortunate.

But for those who do have one with a typo....now you have a collector's item

I know! I wasn't aware that the issue wasn't on every disc, but now I am I'm rather pleased! Coupled with the defective Pierrot Le Fou Blu-ray I could be sitting on a goldmine

The thing is tho, I wouldn't expect problems like this to arise with the Masters Of Cinema collection, or The Criterion Collection, or The BFI Flipside series, all of whom, like SC market themselves as premium products. All the cutbacks and whatnot in the world shouldn't equal this sort of thing (I'm fairly sure that MoC run with less staff than SC). The bottom line really being that if you can't provide a premium experience, you shouldn't offer it.

Very well said- I completely agree!!...they absolutely should not offer it and it would be a shame that these classics would not be available for us to buy but eventually someone else would come along and do it properly and save me some money from double dipping.

I just received my copy of The Elephant Man. Complete with typo...pathetic, really!
Are there definitely corrected copies out there?

Interesting! Well, its not the end of the world, but it is rather sloppy. I won't bother sending it back, though.

Speaking of typos, the Scandinavian StudioCanal Collection release of The Pianist has "hiding in hiding in" (ie repeated twice) in the description on the back. Don't know about the UK one, as it's different.

Unbelievable! Just checked my UK copy and it only types 'hiding in' once.

Funny this, I thought I'd check the back of the Scandinavian StudioCanal release of Delicatessen too. And while not a typo, the description still isn't without a flaw, this time a grammar one. It actually says "Dominique Pinon stars an ex-clown who gets a handyman job". Guess there's an "as" missing in there.

Yes- definetely ok copies out there- got mine way back when it was first released. Attached a pic. Someone else also reported of some copies of 'The Pianist' spelt as 'The Pianiste' on the front cover.

And on Optimum's original Blu-ray release of 'The Pianist' (i.e. not the recent Studio Canal one), the title on the spine was shown as just "Pianist", not "The Pianist". Yes they are extremely careless with their artwork. It shouldn't need a specific Quality Control function to spot obvious mistakes like that. I mean, for goodness sake, does nobody at all in the company even bother to get hold of the artwork to give it a quick look before the print run?
