I am interested in all of the character's lives, they are trying to rebuild what they've lost and at this point in the story it's just about them trying to cope and live with the hand they've been dealt. Maybe not your cup of tea, but I love this show and especially the music.
I guess I just forgot ... But again I just feel we're back to where we were in season 1 with it not going anywhere (edit* not quite true the chick trying to find her brother at least was a tad entertaining), either they'll rebuild or they won't. I mean will we get to season 7 and the finale of it all will be they finally have their lives back together, it just seems so unsatisfying (if this show goes on for years to come). It's still good writing, so I'll continue to hope this is all leading somewhere

But that's kind of the point. Here we are nearly 6 years later and New Orleans is still in ruins, millions are still without homes. The show is giving us character representations of exactly where the city still stands today. If you're expecting a rebuilt city and rainbows than you are definitely not watching the right show lol.

Not so much rainbows, I guess just less uninteresting realities (as terrible as that sounds)

Episode 4: Batiste vs. IndyMac... Fight for the home loan

I mean honestly they have so many interesting ways to look at NO and the fallout from the storm, just seems like they aren't focusing on things that really could be great (crime for one )

They spent so much time focusing on the crime on The Wire that I don't know if David Simon would do another show about it.

This is why I love cable, you never had the drama of worrying about the future of your shows.

HBO Renews 'Treme' For Third Season
Quote:
HBO has picked up its praised New Orleans drama Treme for a third season. David Simon's series chronicling the life of New Orleans residents in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina was down in its second season premiere, drawing 605,000 viewers, down from the 1.1 million who tuned in for the series premiere last year. But as HBO brass always say, the ratings don't have much weight in their renewal decision. And Treme is a show they have said they are proud about.

Oh f*** yes!! Super thrilled about this. Even more so because I wasn't necessarily expecting it to come back.

I think this renewal is HBO's way of finally showing its subscribers that it won't f*** up anymore like they did with Carnivale, Deadwood and Rome. Ratings don't equal financial success necessarily for cable anymore, especially with DVD sales racking in so much money nowadays, and HBO finally knows this, thank god.

I just got around to watching Season 1 on Blu-Ray, so I haven't even started Season 2 yet. The show looks great on Blu though, and the music sounds AMAZING!

When those shows were on the air, HBO didn't quite have the pull it does now. HBO isn't in the ratings business and they finally realize that. They're in the subscription business, and subscriptions are driven by a collection of elements, one of which is branding. They didn't have the overseas clout that they do now that allows them to heavily sell their brands in foreign markets so us the fans get greatly rewarded by this newest discovery.

Wendell Pierce to Star in Biopic B.B. King and I
Quote:
When Wendell Pierce was cast as a journeyman jazz musician in Treme, he immediately started taking trombone lessons. As Pierce told The Grio, “I didn’t want to look like an actor who knows absolutely nothing about music.” I’ll be Pierce is thumbing through his phone book for a guitar teacher as we speak, because the actor has just signed on to play B.B. King in the biopic B.B. King and I. Michael Zanetis co-wrote the screenplay based on his experience as a drummer who travels from the Heartland to Hollywood to pursue his musical dreams. Zanetis met King at a 1980 concert and struck up a lifelong friendship. Patrick Fugit (Cirque du Freak) will play the fictional Zanetis. Michael Schroder (Man in the Chair) is on board to direct.

King Size Film has scheduled the independent production to begin September 1 with a Spring 2012 release in mind.

Zanetis, who will also produce B.B. King and I, gushed to Variety:

“We are thrilled that Wendell has come aboard. We’re fortunate to have an actor of his caliber and reputation for dedication to his craft, portraying one of America’s most beloved icons. This year marks the 21st Anniversary of Mr. King receiving his Star and his 86th birthday, so we feel the time is right to bring our tribute to him to the big screen.”

You can’t watch five seasons of The Wire then 1+ seasons of Treme and not fall in love with Pierce. I wish I were more familiar with King’s work, but I’ll settle for Pierce as a more remote grizzled blues/jazz legend any day. I suppose, based on the origins, this is more Zanetis’ story — Fugit is a fine, wholesome choice for the audience stand-in.

Pierce will next be seen on the big screen in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part I when it opens November 18. Fugit recently reunited with Almost Famous director Cameron Crowe for We Bought a Zoo, due December 23.

yeah I can definitely see that. He is obviously a pretty good musician and favors him a little bit. Good for him. I love seeing people from the Wire continue to get work.

I was very surprised though to see Wendell's name attached to a Twilight movie.

Yeah what the heck. I hate those movies but may need to see it just for him. I am really happy to see him finally getting some work even if it is Twilight.

Yep you have people like me who if they only kept powerhouses would probably cancel until the next season, but if you have a collection of shows and multiple interest points you're probably going to do much better (with less ratings) then if you only let shows like the Sopranos run.

Damn you Pelecanos, I knew as soon as I saw your name in last night's credits one of the regulars would fall. You were always brought in to do the dirt on The Wire and Simon brought you back again. But damn man,
[Show spoiler]Harley was my favorite character. Steve Earle was 80%
of the reason I watched this show, and I loved how important he had been this season..............

Well i think there are officially only 2 more episodes of this fantastic show left to air.
The penultimate epsiode this upcoming Sunday and the Series finale the weekend after.
I will really miss this fantastic show.
While it occasionally shows how corrupt, unfair and depressing this country can be it is also a show that celebrates life and makes me appreciate life more than any show I have ever seen.
It truly was a great show and unlike anything I have ever seen and it will be very missed.
kinda sad that there are A million different serial killer of the week and crime shows on the air but a unique and impressive show like this didnt have a full run of at least a few more seasons.
very happy HBO at least give it a final 5 hours to wrap things up.
