You and I might love to sit at home and watch it, but you think Nolan is interested in watching this after having spent so long working on it? That's not to mention the fact that WB owns the film; Nolan would need their special permission to own a home video copy for himself. More than likely, if he wants to watch it in his own home, he either has an illegal copy or he'll wait for the home video just like everyone else. And no, TDK is not light on extras. As I recall, there are no deleted scenes, but that's because the script was tight before they filmed. Only thing else they might've put but chose to exclude are outtakes, and they intentionally left those off because Nolan considers it embarrassing to the actors. |

I'm confused. If there was no grain, the only conclusion is that it was recorded completely digitally, and was never on film. So... why are you mentioning a transfer at all? What transfer? Maybe you mean a re-encode.

If grain is not visible it is because: #1: Poorly focused projection. If this is the case, it won't affect the home video release. #2: Noise reduction applied to the digital intermediate. This probably is the case for the IMAX presentation. It probably won't be a problem for home video, but if the standard DI was processed noticeably, then the HD video we get on BD will similarly be processed. I doubt it though. #3: High quality film stock. I've heard some of it was shot on 65mm film, meaning those parts will have very fine grain. I wouldn't be surprised if even the 35mm portions had a particularly fine grain. It's probably a combination of #1 and #3 if considering traditional theaters, or #2 and #3 if considering IMAX presentation. Anyway, the idea of "transfer" is laughable in modern cinema. There is no film master in most cases anymore. All of the film shot is scanned into the computer and the film is created entirely in the digital realm. While in the old days, a film would literally be CUT UP and COMPOSED into a master from which copies would be made, today, everything is done in a computer, even when visual effects aren't as necessary. The "film master" in modern cinema is the digital intermediate. The DI is the source of film prints for theaters, digital "prints" for digital theaters, home video, and broadcast. There is no "transfer". It's all there in digital. Old films can be rescanned, remastered, etc., but modern films composed digitally... not so much. Technically, they POSSIBLY could go back to archived camera negatives and rescan it all and recompile the ENTIRE movie essentially from scratch... but don't expect to see that anytime soon for anything. Ever. |

![]() ![]() http://screenrant.com/inception-dvd-...s-mikee-76739/ It looks like dreams do come true as the Triple Play Limited Edition Briefcase will house the movie and some extra gifts for the consumers. Inside the silver suitcase, which replicates the one seen in the film, is a spinning top “totem,” movie art cards, a PASIV Device User Manual and three copies of Inception - DVD, Blu-ray and Digital Copy. As for the bonus features, there are only a few, but they sound appealing enough. Director Christopher Nolan and Leonardo DiCaprio will host the Maximum Movie Mode, a unique Warner Bros. commentary that implements a more interactive behind-the-scenes look as you watch the film. Included are “The Cobol Job” and “The Big Under,” two digital comics that serve as prologues to Inception and expand on Leonardo DiCaprio’s backstory leading up to the dream theft seen at the beginning of the film. There is also a documentary-style segment on dream research that should be similar to the viral clip released before the movie. Expect a more formal announcement on the home video release details soon, but this is the first explanation of what we can expect when one of the year’s best films hits shelves. No date has been announced, but rumors have started on a potential December release. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

And... cue the replies asking for a "regular" release.
That is a very interesting package design though and it is nice to see premium items being included with new to home video releases from Warner. Usually, the premiums are only with catalog titles. |
