My sister put it on on Netflix yesterday and it was crystal clear - I watched it the day prior on my owned digital HDX (Vudu) and it was nowhere near as clear as Netflix's, felt 4K I'm very confused

Confirmed yesterday/today by multiple users on Reddit - Vudu is passing off the wildly inferior SD master as HDX. If you're a fan of this film like I am, please take a few moments out of your day to make a call or start a support chat to Vudu to report the problem so we can get this beautiful classic in pristine HDX like we're *supposed to* have - what we payed for. Thanks everyone!

We all knew this was coming this year because Paramount really loves their anniversaries. So much so that it's easy to predict what they will release. This was my prediction last year:

Hopefully Itunes will upgrade soon to 4K as well, that's where I redeemed my digital copy.

If it upgrades to 4K yes I will watch it to see how it looks. I watch Christmas movies all year round, I'm weird like that lol.

FINALLY, their HDX is updated. Can’t comment on the UHD vs HDX but will say the updated HDX was long overdue, it’s night and day

Just checked it out when I went to see if Paramount updated their 4K stream of To Catch a Thief (and it looks like they have).

But yes, White Christmas also updated to 4K and I took a brief look at it today. Looks lovely actually. There's grain, it's in its proper 1.85:1 and quite a bit of detail compared to their BD.

What did the updated 4K version of TO CATCH A THIEF look like? Still the same mess?

No it looks to have been fixed. Posted my thoughts in the To Catch a Thief 4K thread:

Same with the day for night scene where Cary Grant is on the roof. Green AF now.

Some shots still do look a little smooth tbh but I remember the entire thing being smeared with DNR and that no longer seems to be the case. Mind you this is from just skimming through but it does look like certain issues have been corrected.

REALLY hope we get a physical 4K of White Christmas this year. Whenever Fathom events does a screening it a good indication of an upcoming 4k. Not always, but pretty frequently.

I wish Paramount when they include BDs would include updated ones if the prior release isn't OAR. Just notice this now on the caps comparisons. looks like the DV layer is the way to go as well.
