Good question, I do know there are prerequisites for leaving it to prevent abuse, so bear that in mind

I think that rep can actually be used correctly on this forum. There are only a few trouble makers that I have personally seen lurking around.

Everyone started out with 10's so I'm assuming its neutral....

<---- I liked having my PSN ID over there, saved me from using a sig.

This rep sounds like it might be a good idea but I do see it becoming nothing more than a circle jerk.

On a plus side the new user area on the left does look nice.

I do and don't agree with you.
Although there are always some kids playing around with things like this, the fact is that it'll only be interesting in the beginning. Once people gather some reputation points, the negative impact will be extremely light.

Plus you can't just give one person a bad reputation point on more than one of his or her posts, if I am correct. I believe you'll have to give a bunch of other people reputation points (either positive or negative) before you can give the same person another reputation point.

And if I understand this reputation point system correctly, I also believe that one's own reputation score defines the weight when rating someone's post. If you have a very bad score yourself, you can't do much harm to anyone else. So bad influences to the system are automatically taken care of for the most part.

My thought exactly. I think they started out with 10 so when someone gets a negative reputation point right from the start, he or she won't be walking around with -1. That gives a bad idea about that person, while it may just be one other person's opinion.

Overall I like the new features. There not too obtrusive, you might as well ignore them if you don't like them.

I'm having fun with the new feature, given several positive feedback on people I like and know to be great guys.
[Show spoiler]But only one negative feedback

Hopefully this goes well.

You know this is exactly what will happen... get into a disagreement with somebody over their opinion, and they'll "degrade" you just for spite.

Give people the option to make others look bad, and they'll take advantage of it for sure.

Why not?
Nothing wrong with assuming the best of each member here

Soemone might give you a negative, but if more people give you positives you will still be gaining in the reputation score. The better you reputation, the harder it would be for someone's score to affect it.

So I best be on my bestest behaviour then!

Shouldn't be a problem. People seem to like me
