I don't know if Warner or Disney owns this currently. If it's Disney all we can hope for is they give this the kind of love and treatment they are doing for both Speed and Heat (said to be coming to UHD late this year now). It certainly deserves it.

One of my favorite films. I wanted to live in LA after watching this as a kid. This is when LA was the center of the universe... Utah, gimme two!!

I just love this movie. Recently rewatched it (WB blu ray) on my upgraded setup with a solid 4k tv and surround sound.

Since my eyes and ears have seen and heard, among other things, Lucy for example, I really want Point Break to look and sound a little better. I can't be the only one in purgatory where Point Break is potentially my favorite movie while ironically the worst looking and sounding film I own.

Does anyone know if the source material was better than what the Blu Ray provides? HDR should help any film. Would a new scan make a significant difference? How did/does this look in theaters?

If the current look of this film on blu ray is what Bigelow and co. intended, and thats that, well....fine. However, if there's room for improvement, I want it.

So, to any wise soul that can help answer my questions and maybe just maybe give me a little hope.

Yeah I need a UHD of this badly. I hope Disney doesn't have this one.

Surprised this never got a better quality release at the time of the remake or for the 30th anniversary. The existing blus look to be from a really old master and don't look great. Also would be nice to get the original 4.0 soundtrack as a DTS-HD track.
