I am the other way around. I played the crap out of Fallout 3. I got my platinum and have still replayed it several times but I was never able to finish New Vegas. I have tried several times but the story never sucked me in like 3 did. Don't know why though.

I finished a platinum in New Vegas, but Fallout 3 is unparalleled. It's perfect in a lot of ways. New Vegas was a little too civilized.

Same here except I finished New Vegas. I just never wanted to go back. I actually haven't played either for quite a while. I should fix that.

I enjoyed playing Fallout 3 GOTY but due to massive glitches/bugs, I never finished it.
I haven't played New Vegas Ultimate Edition (still sealed) but after my experience with Fallout 3, it'll be a long time before I try this game out. |

My experience with both was that there were certain locations and tasks that were more prone to glitches than others, and you just had to be careful with manual saves to keep them from killing your game.

Quirks are one thing. I bought all versions of both games on ps3 and barley finished the main story of fo3. I put several hrs into new vegas and it freezes. Tried everything i can find online to work around. Only option is to start over. Not something i want to do especially since i completed it on the 360 with little issues. I wouldnt hesitate buying a remastered of fallout or elder scrolls if ever available though. Fo4 cant come soon enough.

New Vegas seems empty in a lot of areas with fewer enemies it seemed. Quote:

I'll guess we won't see that level of crashing or glitches in Fallout 4 since the PS4 is reportedly a lot easier to program for. |

My first play through of fallout 3 was on the PS3 and got worse and worse as time went on, by the last mission it was so glitched I almost couldn't finish, it took several runs to get through the last run with the robot, I actually had to skip most of it to avoid the freezing. I played 3 and new Vegas several times through on the 360 and while I had some issues, it never got that bad again. I went the xbox route on all Bethesda games after that...

I played both games on the PS3 numerous times & did experience some crashes. But I also played both games on PC & while more stable they had their share of crashes as well. As I stated before you have to expect a game the size of these two will crash, its Bethesda its gonna happen. Hell even Skyrim would crash from time to time.

For the DLC, they said tackle that first with a separate save, and don't combine those missions with the main story mission saves for the best chance of few crashes on PS3. A lot of crashing due to PS3's low RAM it was reported. I tried this concept of collecting less, and did notice slightly less crashing. Save/wait/sleep often is the key. Quote:
Hopefully they have a new game engine for Fallout 4. |

With all of the recent PS3 to PS4 upgraded games, Fallout 3 is one PS3 game that could really use a PS4 upgrade, with all of the muddy textures up close, and glitches. Imagine Bethesda announced Fallout GOTYear PS4 was arriving in 2015, then Fallout 4 in 2016? In the PS3 version, I switch to manual saving to avoid crashes, especially in New Vegas. |

amazing that any rumors about fallout 4 can do to an old fart come out of the woodwork.
![]() its been a while, but im glad that bethesda is or might or maybe considering fallout 4 to be on the table. The glitches, yes, i have experienced it, but as others are miserable with them, i was able to get around most of them just by saving saving saving. Problem is my save files hit about 120 or something so i dont remember when or where i was at a good point. I think this is when i decided when its a super important save point, i go back to the 'house' i chose to store all my loot, and then have him wearing his tidy whiteys to signify THIS is my main starting point. Hello old schoolers, those who still remember me. ![]() |

I can't wait for FO4. It's going to be so good. I still put on FO3 sometimes for nostalgia. I put 200 hours into that game. The music, atmosphere of the DC wasteland, game play, characters etc. I loved everything about that game. FONV was good too but to me not as good as 3.
Nice to see all the FO players together again. ![]() |
