A 3-disc set and they couldn't find room for a 3D transfer in there?

Is WB distribution deal up with Paramount? There's many preorder Paramount titles on the home page and they basically look all like reissues. Maybe a glimmer of hope we may get another shot of this coming in 3D.

True story, I've only seen this movie once. I saw it at a drive-in with polarized glasses when I was a kid. May have been my first 3D film but can't recall honestly. Since then I've been holding out on watching it again the proper way even though I own the shitty version. When 3D TV's came out I was sure I would finally score, but we all know that turned out so far. Oh well, maybe one day.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit if the huge amount of complaints ("it's defective") in 2011 directed at Paramount for the 3-D Blu-ray of HUGO (high parallax budget = ghosting on some displays) made them shy away from HONDO in 2012 and not want to even consider FRIDAY THE !3th 3D.

You wore polarized glasses, not the crappy red/blue ones? I didn't realize until a few months ago that polarized 3D glasses existed before Avatar because I saw several 3D movies as a kid in the 80's and I always rememberwearing the blue/red glasses: Parasite, Jaws 3, Friday the 13th 3, Spacehunter and Starchader. Even the Nightmare on Elm St: Freddy's Dead had red/blue glasses in the 90's (I still have a few pairs). I was little in the early 80s so I may just be remembering wrong.

And also it won't help now that 3D tvs are fading away from the market. Only hope at this point is if somebody like shout could license it and release it.

Polarized 3-D was first shown publicly in 1936.

The resolution was there where early 1080p passive sets just didn't deliver full resolution 3D, but the crosstalk just turned off a whole ton of potential customers.

If blu-ray 3D just launched now with LG's passive UHD sets, I think people would be singing a different tune about home 3D. In all the owners' threads I read for the LG UHD sets, people are often praising the passive 3D. Many say they didn't buy it for the 3D but after seeing how good it is they are hooked.
I have two active systems that are a bit older, an LG plasma and an Epson 3010 projector and Hugo looks spectacular on both. So much so that it is my favorite 3D movie.

I have 2 active 3DTV sets and never seen any ghosting/crosstalk in my life. No matter what 3D movie you display on them.

Robert and mar3o, thanks! I hate that I was feeding into false myths! I was born in '78 so I was really young when I went to see the early 80's movies and it goes to show how rumors can affect your memory. I was older for Freddy's Dead so I remember that more clearly!

Now allow me to possible clear one up: Active 3D was not necessarily the problem - but the poor implementation of Active 3D on earlier sets. My Samsung JS9500 has ZERO crosstalk and although I'm in the minority of this forum I prefer the active 3D on my Samsung SUHD to the passive 3D on my LG E6 OLED.

No kidding! You should have told him it's also the image people associate with eye discomfort. He would be better off using the x-ray glasses image from the old comic book ads.

Most 3D films were polarized.

I returned it for my LG and the stuttering was gone and the 3D was immensely improved.

About the anaglyph - it's a common misconception thanks to marketing and media which frequently used to show people in the theatres wearing red/blue glasses. Those glasses were very uncommon for films, and were actually used mostly for comic books and a few 3D TV broadcasts and anaglyph VHS tapes.
Consistency definitely seems to be an advantage for passive. I have the 55" JS8500 in my bedroom that I use when I cant bear to leave the dark of my bedroom and the 3D is perfect! Just as good as the JS9500.. the ONLY crosstalk I have seen is that if you are too far off-center subtitles can have some ghosting against dark backgrounds (but that could be a blooming as opposed to ghosting). The JS9500 handles handles HDR better but cost significantly more. The LG E6 is King when it comes to 4K HDR. I can't complain about 3D on the LG. To my eyes, the active 3D on both Samsung's just seems sharper and has more pop to it. With the overall brightness of the two LED's the picture seems brighter as well.

Hello everyone,

I just found an interesting way to watch Friday the 13th in 3D: I've put on both my red/blue glasses AND my Playstation VR headset (which is not that uncomfortable by the way). The 3D effects are simply amazing!

The only drawback is the fact that the image is a little too red to my taste, and I can't find a way to change colors in either the PS4 settings or the PSVR settings.

Anyone with a PSVR should give it a try!

Default Will we see Friday the 13th part 3 on Blu-ray 3D in 2017?

Hey guys, I noticed they're releasing an uncut version of the original Friday the 13th on Blu-ray in September 2017. Hopefully they will also release a regular Blu-ray 3D of Friday the 13th Part 3 in September also!

Here's the link to the new Friday the 13th release...

Yeah, I mentioned doing this for My Bloody Valentine a while back. The 3D was insane!

Edit: wait a minute! Hoe rid you get hold of the 3D version?

This anaglyph 3D version is what he has.

Odd that it says "Friday The 13Th - Part III [Blu-ray] (Older 3D Version)" Older Version? Is there a newer version coming out?

I bet MBV 3D is a real showstopper with a headset. I mean it looks awesome on a tv as it is but it would be a great to see via VR headset.

The Friday the 13th complete collection came after that, does it have the same presentation?

I think that means the "older version" of 3D technology (i.e. Anaglyph) as opposed to the newer stereoscopic version of 3D?
