I wonder with the WB preorder fiasco recently when this will be up for ordering. With the theatrical cut being included, I'm now questioning selling off the now OOP previous blu-ray edition as I'd originally planned. Although, other than if I didn't like the new cut, I don't know why I'd need to keep it at this point. It had a rather dated transfer as it is.

I look forward to this release, despite the varying opinions as to its merits as a true "director's cut."

I was mistaken about the extras. I kept thinking that one came with some as it was a digibook 'collector' edition but you are correct on that.

However, 18mbps is hardly impressive or 'more than adequate' as you put it.

Either way I couldn't preorder that fast enough:

1) If that price holds it's a steal
2) Who knows how long it will last before Amazon removes it, due the WB/Amazon "contract negotiations".

This would have to be the single disc release as I'd doubt the single disc could hold any cheaper of a list price. I'm tempted to wait an extra day to see if another pre-order link surfaces first.

Unless Amazon screwed up, it's definitely the single disc, since it matches its MSRP. Might not hurt to lock in a pre-order though, justt in case

I'm another person who just acquired the existing US Blu-ray recently. Since I haven't gotten around to watching it, I think I'll just wait and check out the reviews when the new Blu-ray version is released. Perhaps the upcoming release will be even better quality.

The Italian BD shows signs of improvement? Really? From what I have seen on the net (not in person) the Italian BD with the extended cut seemed to have rather bad reviews, the PQ not being near the existing UK/US blu-ray.

Having seen pictures of what the newly inserted shots look like I'm wondering if they're not going to distract more than they add.

Optimally it would have had seamless branching with both cuts using the new transfer, but that's obviously not going to happen. I don't see the second disc being anything but the previous release, so I'll probably just get the single-disc. Unless they mess it up as badly as their Italian edition in which case I give up.
