£75 certainly triggered my price point.

Less than £10 per season = win

Yeah, it is a good price… And tempting. But with the French release (90 Euro), it is still cheaper to go with that release in October (in Australian Dollars, I save 7 bucks!).

Not that much of a saving, but if I do get the French release, I can cross my fingers for an English DTS-HD track.

I'm curious -- why has the UK rated this set 18? It aired on network television in the States. Isn't 18 the UK equivalent of a hard R rating in America?

Something to do with the season 5 episode "Under My Skin" - apparently the BBFC consider that it features a suicide technique.

Flubit came back with an offer of just over £68 delivered, very very tempting.

The problem is the fact it's potentially imitable rather than it's suicide...

Just ordered the UK set for a grand total of £65.83 from Amazon.co.uk. (The price drops after the VAT fees vanish).

I'd have waited for a US release but I feel that the days of tv-on-BluRay are waning.

If seasons 6, 7, and 8 don't have the DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 audio, I'll swap in the US BluRays of those three seasons which were already released (which I already have).

I hope seasons 1-5 have DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 too, but if not I'll survive.

Bad news dude. UK set (and every other set released as of yet) has English DTS 5.1 only. ALL 8 Seasons! (You are lucky you can swap them out, only seen S6 in Australia, S7-8 I'd have to import again!).

I was waiting on French set, that states DTS-HD for English and French, but now I am not so sure (as anyone can fill those info bits in on Amazon.Fr)… Also, French is a lossy on this release, makes it more likely that Studio Canal will use the international (UK, Spanish etc.) version.

At this price point from Amazon UK, it is hard to say no (English menus and covers too). Rather than wait for French release.

Just wanted to know one thing though before I take the plunge and get the UK set…

On the UK set, is the English DTS 5.1 track 1.5 Mbps OR 768 Kbps?

If someone who owns the set and happens to read this, please post here or PM me. Note: You can find this out as PS3 and any decent BD player will tell you the audio track Mbps when you hit the info button.

Cheers!

It's 768Kbps RG.

Checked a few random episodes and they were all the same so I assume it's uniform across the series.

Someone who owns this set… How good is the picture quality? Is it worth upgrading from the dvd?

Haven't sat and watched any episodes yet, just stuck in a couple of discs to check the query above. That being said, PQ looked good. Not perfect, but better than the DVDs.

Have previously seen seasons 6-8 on BD and assuming that the earlier seasons are as good as those then easily better than their DVD counterparts.

Picture quality is fantastic all across the board. From the pilot until the end. Very filmic, great color, detail, excellent looking series. Unfortunately the theme song is changed and it has lossy audio. Otherwise it would be a no brainer.

Purchased my copy on the weekend. Having it shipped priority, but they were only half a day late in shipping it... And they have given me a full refund on shipping! All hail Amazon UK!

My copy of The Walking Dead S4 Limited Edition shipped a day late from Amazon US (after pre-ordering, which meant Monday delivery, not Friday) and no refund from the US. Seemed standard for them to delay delivery!

Hopefully will still get House this week (as of Tuesday morning Europe time, was still in Germany).

I'm guessing DTS 768Kbps lossy should have better AQ than a DVD Dolby lossy track (with approx. 300 something Kbps). Still compressed, but with more room breathe.

And it sounds like PQ is pretty good, with what I have read in this forum. Have only watched it here on SD cable (576i/p, PAL). So will be a nice change to see House in HD and at normal film speed (sometimes House himself sounds a little whiny for my ears on Aussie TV).

Can anyone tell me how the picture quality is? I seen a review on amazon uk saying the picture was bad for the earlier seasons.

Good to hear that there is an improvement over the dvd. I have season 7 on BD and (personally) thought it looked great! Thanks for checking!

Shame they changed the song. Will have to pick this set up when the price becomes a bit more persuading…

House rocks!
