Let's see how low the price gets between now and release date....
I've gotten the first three each for under $30. If you want exact numbers, I can look in my order history. The current price will no doubt be lowered to below $30 before release date.

No doubt. It's already dipped what, $12 in a week?

I have a feeling Amazon has an algorithm that adjusts prices on pre-orders based on the amounts of pre-orders received. The more pre-orders, the lower the price goes. Seen it happen too many times and too regularly to not think there is some automated process involved.

Geez! I hope not. I already have those 3 exact sigils for my s1 - s3 sets (Targay-s1, Lann-s2, Stark-s3). I'm sure they'll come out with at least 2 choices and if they aren't going to release anything new than make one of them Greyjoy (was one of the s2 options) so there is at least one that I don't have yet. But I'm hoping they release others to choose from...I don't really care for the Greyjoys. lol The proposed sigils that got voted down for BB s3 sets were Tully, Baratheon and...can't remember the 3rd choice...but any of those 2 would be good!

The poll last year was done in june, so it's probably not going to come down to that this time. They'll be new slips, Best Buy isn't that stupid. Unfortunately we probably won't know until January or February like season 2.

Went down to $39.96 today. Nothing was applied to my pre-order. When does Amazon usually apply the pre-order price guarantee discount?? I'm getting worried here that Amazon might end up gypping me.

It usually takes Amazon 24 hours to apply the price change.

Don't worry, like previous releases this will be anywhere from $25-35 depending on what retailer Amazon decides to price match.

It mystifies me that we go through this every year, with posters obsessing over every little price decrease/increase throughout the year. The final price is always around $30.

They should be more worried about whether or not HBO is really cramming this on 4 discs.

The picture of the set shows only four discs, with episodes 7-10 on one disc.

But the press release states five discs, so it could have just been a mistake made in the mock-up image.

We'll just have to wait and see.

It's not a rumor. HBO released a picture of the packaging and it only showed 4 discs. The fourth disc is labeled "Episodes 7-10 and Special Features". If this is true for the final set, then that means they are shoving 4 episodes plus extras on one disc.

I'm really hoping it was just because that image was a work in progress.

I have a really hard time believing the final product will be like that image. Previous sets have put up to 3 episodes on one disc. So even if they really want to cut down to a Four Disc Set, all they'd have to do is have 2 discs with 3 episodes on them, and the other two discs would have 2 episodes on them.

There's absolutely NO reason to have a single disc with 4 episodes on it.

I unfortunately find it believable because it seems like HBO is getting cheaper with their Blu-ray sets. The newest season of Boardwalk Empire also got shoved onto 4 discs.

But even that set has 3 episodes on each disc. None with 4 - and that show is 12 episodes to GoT's 10.

In any case, the press release for Boardwalk Empire's set indicated the 4 Discs. Game of Thrones' says 5.

So, again, I'll believe it when I see it.

I really hope you're right and you probably are. I'm just terrified at the thought of my favorite show possibly not having a near perfect BD release.

Yay! They applied the price change.

It would be great if they lower this to less than $30 because I have free shipping now. So, if they lower it to less than $30, I will still get the free shipping despite not having met the $35 requirement.

4 discs is plenty for 10 episodes. The 5 disc thing is just an HBO tactic to make the set look larger than it really is.
