Not for me its not, to mod my player would set me back £170 which is more than buying a player already chipped from Multiregion magic, already checked.

The Leopard actually played on my Region B Panasonic DP-UB450EGK with the remote trick. M and Lola Montes, however, did not. My copy of The 400 Blows, which is the original 2009 release, also did not play.

These are all the Criterion discs in my collection I've tried so far myself. The only failures for me were Lola Montes, M, and the 2009 blu-ray of The 400 Blows. My Kino blu-ray of Alphaville and Sony Pictures Classics blu-ray of Amour also didn't work.

Would it be possible to get a second confirmation on whether Red Desert works, given it came out in the grey area of Criterion's release dates? I'd love to import it at some point, but I don't want to risk dropping £25+ on something that has any more than a small chance (as it is with every one of these imports) of becoming useless pretty plastic on my shelf. Bonus points if someone proves it works on a Panny UB-450, as that's my weapon of choice.

For my contribution, I'll add that the following Criterions work on the 450:

Kwaidan
Betty Blue
Until the End of the World (Both discs)

With the addition that Celine & Julie Go Boating works, but it's a little harder to convince the main menu to appear. The others I can all do first try at this point, but it's always taken at least 3 attempts to get either Celine & Julie disc working. Maybe it's entirely just me, but the time window for getting the main menu up seems a lot less generous on that release.
