If Disney redraws/uses the majestic lamp poster for the Blu/DVD/digital cover then I'm good yet I'll be fine a family friendly cover like Pan, Jungle Book
Yea after lookin at the diamond covers, Snow White, Bambi, Lady/Tramp and Beauty/Beast had full art while Cinderella started the oval cover which I thought worked well for it/101, I felt torn havin to choose the gold/character cover for Lil Mermaid and wished Jungle Book had full art as well In all honesty I wouldn't mind a oval cover featuring Aladdin/Genie in the oval and the Magic Carpet flight on the back against the Cave Of Wonder while Jasmine and Jafar are placed on the front Last edited by Mason_Ireton; 02-11-2015 at 06:23 PM. |

I went back and looked at all the current covers out there. Seems like all the 3D versions got full art. But also some of the later movies did too. Honestly, it seems like Disney just couldn't make up their mind. I mean, all previous movies had some version with a lenticular cover be it regular or an exclusive with the exception of Cars. Now 101 Dalmatians looks to be the second one to not have a lenticular cover in some fashion. So did Disney decide to do away with them along with 3D? This is the problem with Disney, no consistency in anything.

As for the transfer of Aladdin it could use the same master as the BDs that have been available in the rest of the world for 3 years now. |

Unless Disney is prepping Aladdin to be its first UHDBD release, the video will probably be the same as Europe. Audio, however, is likely to be upgraded much like 101 Dalmatians (DTS-HD MA 7.1 + DD mono instead of DTS-HD MA 5.1). |

Every Disney animated feature shot on film was captured in 4k for preservation purposes, and quite a while ago. The actual mastering and "restoration" work was done in 2k. For 4k release, all that work would presumably have to be done all over again. So take heart, people upset over Sword in the Stone and Mickey's Christmas Carol and Fox and the Hound and the rest...they'll probably take another crack at those for 4k. Don't know if we'll all live to see them, but that's another story.

Why do people think there's a possibility for Aladdin in 3D?
![]() Plus Disney Home Entertainment in the US already given up on 3D blu-rays. From what I read a while ago The Little Mermaid was the last of four releases which Disney converted in 3D. The other films being Beauty and the Best, The Lion King, and Monsters, Inc. While Ratatouille and The Incredibles are already converted in 3D but still need releases. It would be nice Aladdin to be converted in 3D though. |

The Pixar 3D releases were supposed to come out stateside but it's starting to seem a bit less likely. Maybe it will still happen.
As for the Disney classics, The Little Mermaid was the last confirmed 3D title. Just a lot of us seemed to hope Disney might surprise us and would have done one last 3D conversion for Aladdin. Given that it's one of their biggest titles and they didn't release it around the same time as it was elsewhere worldwide. However, it is pretty clear Disney US has given up on 3D altogether. On home media at least. (A Aladdin 3D re-release theatrically probably would have done just as well as The Lion King 3D and it could have been issued overseas to a more welcoming 3D market.) |
