That's not quite true. I own this DVD, the PQ isn't that bad. And it has perfect 5.1 sound. If Arrow will release part 3 unrated, I'm in, otherwise I'll stay with my DVD.

Letting the (awesome) news of this release sink in and having a look at the price again, I do wonder if the decision to price it that high (yes I think it's too much) has to do with Scream Factory's Nightbreed set selling so well. Only difference is that that had premiere blu-ray releases; Arrow knows every respectable horror fan already has the Hellraiser movies on blu-ray and even with all the Barker exclusive material tagged along, this set should have been priced 40 £ tops. Really. The artwork makes it look even cheaper, but considering the content that sounds like a more reasonable deal.

I would consider myself a respectable horror fan, and I never got any of the Hellraiser movies previous on blu, because the transfers generally had very middling reviews and I didn't see sufficient reason to upgrade from my DVD boxset of the trilogy. Arrow is creating brand new restorations and that's going to cost serious money regardless of whether or not there were previous BD releases (which were obviously based on dated masters created for the DVD versions). I have full faith in their release representing a major upgrade in the presentation of the films over any previous releases and did not hesitate to pre-order at their store.

I don't doubt these will be improvements, but final specs are still TBA. I'm just not rushing to pre-order based on what I've read so far is all I'm saying.

Same here, but I'm not going to spring for this because of all the DVD box sets I have, only two have been sanctioned by my other half for general display. The Hellraiser Lament Configuration box and the Phantasm Sphere. I don't need another slipcase set to be confined to the attic cupboard with my other outsize sets.

It would make sense to store these in your attic, just don't spill any blood on them

For those not in the know, looking at the Nightbreed forum the limited edition outsold their expectations where their original print run of 5000 was extended to 10000. As of a few days one Scream has completely sold out of their stock as well as the majority of online stores as well with reportedly only a few brick and mortar stores have any left. And this was what, a $70 product that had a sale price of $50-$60 for a while, but like you said there was a standard release as well.

I too think it too much especially as there is already an acceptable release available for the first two films at a very cheap price. The only reason I see Arrow charging such a high price is if the package is very fancy and the book is really deluxe in regards how it looks physically so I don't think we should scream murder just yet until we see the final product. If it sort of looks like their limited edition Battle Royale box then I can sort of understand, but if it looks like TCM2 then I won't believe the price is acceptable.

Also, If for some reason they had to spend a ridiculous amount of money for the rights of the book or the transfers, especially for an extended cut in full HD of part 3, then I can also understand the high price.

From the looks of the pack shots, it'll most likely be like Boro or Six Gothic Tales, with Individual cases and the hard cover book. If it's not like that, and I'd be surprised if it wasn't, then it'll be like the Long Good Friday box, which is hard like the Battle Royale one. The book in that was only 100 pages though, so expect a bigger box.

Let's face it, we people that want a physical copy of something are dinosaurs, why bother buying a box set when you could get a year's netflix subscription for the same price? We're in a niche market, edition numbers will continue to shrink (I think both the US Anchor Bay Hellraiser/2 tin and the UK 1/2/3 puzzle box were ediitons of 50,000) and prices will rise.
This might be the best version of these you'll ever be able to physically buy/own, they're iconic films, and still only an edition of 5,000? Even if I'm paying way over the odds for this, when I look through the Arrow catalogue and see how many risky titles are in there I know I'm also paying for all those risks to exist.

Plus with the early bird pricing and bonus points I'm pretty much paying for three £12.99 titles, which I'm pretty happy with (and I would have bought all three were they separate!)

I'm paying for the new masters. I'm surprised that people are saying that the present releases are good, because I think they're average at best (and the OOP Anchor bay releases were better, but not by much). I know I'm making assumptions that the quality of this release will be excellent, but judging by Arrow's recent releases, I think all three films will look wonderful (if that's the right word for a Hellraiser film).

Arrow are doing all the work in-house, so it's got to be costing them quite a bit, so I'm happy to pay (assuming the final product is up to standard). It also seems that most, if not all, of the previously released special features, plus some new ones, will be there.

You could also wait for the individual releases, because it seems that the only limited exclusives are the book and the packaging. Arrow don't usually repress discs for standard editions, so unless they add a bonus disc to the box set, I think all the video extras will be on the individual releases.

With The 'Burbs they've introduced a (third) mass-market barebones release, but yeah it's not like only the limited edition owners will get decent on-disc supplements.

I haven't watched it yet (I'll need to set aside an entire day, apparently), but my set just arrived and her name is conspicuously missing from the lengthy interviewee list on the back.

Regarding the Leviathan documentary, I've watched the Hellraiser documentary and most of the documentaries on the bonus disc. Ashley Laurence does not appear to have been involved. It's a shame, but I know that at conventions she won't allow photographs because her eyes are very sensitive to light. Maybe that's why she wasn't involved? She has been involved with the bonus features on the official Hellraiser releases, so she has had her say in them.

I've bought the best versions of each film possible so far and can't wait to get the new trilogy from Arrow. I made a case to hold the 9 movies and will be replacing the first 3 movies in it once the Arrow set arrives.

Here's a pic:

^ Love that!!

I have the trilogy set dvd in the cube and have been waiting for Blu Ray since I've switched to BD about 5 yrs ago.

I want the shelf space back and was hoping for 3 individual releases. So my wait will be longer but so good to know they're coming. Don't need the book or another space sucking box set (it's probably same as 3 amarays but book would feel like it's wasting space)

If your chunky 9 disc set was a release Id snap that up and expect the cost to be this overpriced £70 Arrow want for the trilogy. But I'd pay it.

That looks awesome! I've considered doing that for a few of my set's to reduce space as well.

Where did you get the Cover art for it and what paper is best to print it out on?

I gathered lots of Hellraiser artwork here and there...I'm honestly not sure where that pic of the cube came from. It's a large pic though and it wraps around the entire cover (front/spine/back). I'll take some more pics to show you what my spine and back cover look like if you like. In fact, I could email you the cover if you are interested. It works for a 9-disc case (25mm spine).

The paper I use is glossy photo paper.

Thanks for the compliments guys!

I imagine they will do this set like the Texas Chainsaw 2 set and use foldout holders, I'm not a fan of boxsets that carry bluray cases, makes it seem less special.

Anyone up for chains that lunge out from the set to tear your flesh?
