Anyway my point was that Batmobilly666 is in no position to lay into other posters for their movie tastes when like everyone, they own their fair share of suspect movies! I apologise if any Edgar Wright fanboys have been butthurt by my comments. It winds me up when people diss others just for liking a movie, especially when that movie is an unpopular choice.
Chill man, just teasing. For the record though, I'm a girl and I got Horrible Bosses 2 for free at work - I haven't seen it yet, but I thought the first one was alright.

I didn't want to embarrass you further by pointing out you have 3 copies, but if you want to let the world know, then that's on you.

I liked the Scott Pilgrim novels before the film was announced, and while I'm a fan of Edgar Wright for the most part (At World's End was a major disappointment), I'm not a fanboy by any means. The film is a great adaptation.

Anyways, back to the topic...

Major pass for me.

So... I saw the film.

The characters were bland and empty, with Reed being the only person the film tries to give any depth too. The plot was 98% origin story and 2% omg we need this film to end lets add a villain and have him try to destroy...something to protect... something. The main problem, they wanted the F4 to be grittier so they focus on the body horror aspect while at the same time forgetting that the Fantastic Four was meant to be a family and that the original tone of the comic series was more akin to Flash Gordon. They even managed to taint Ben Grimm's catchphrase "It's clobberin' time!" with unneeded ties to bullying.

Reed is the main focus of the film. We're meant to think he's smart, really smart.
Johnny could be considered the secondary focus. He likes fast cars and... and thats about it he has no actual depth but tosses out insults with ease.
Sue is... useless. Literally useless. Useless to the point where she doesn't even take the trip with the guys and still ends up with superpowers just because she needed to have them for it to be Fantastic Four in something other than name only.
Ben is... well Ben is a good friend to Reed who gets ditched the moment things go south and is rightly pissed off about it.
Doom. Doom doesn't even exist until the last 10-15 minutes of the film where he's shown to just be nuts. This is a Doom who was just added to the film to give the film a villain and to tie everything together. It's a Doom that isn't Dr. Doom because Doctor Doom has a personality and is a the ruler of a nation that loves him and that he loves.

So yeah. I left the theater feeling like I wasted my time. There was literally nothing for me to enjoy as even some of the special effects seemed like they put little effort into it. I give praise to the marketing team for making the film seem like it could be good in the trailers as they had a big turd to polish and they made it seem like a potential diamond.

Prometheus made more sense and had a better narrative than this film. I felt for Shaw after all the crap she went through in that film. Watching F4 made me feel like I should've demanded my money back. I haven't felt that ripped off since I saw Noah in IMAX and began to wonder why the film suddenly became a poor man's copy of The Shining.

So no, I will not be buying this steelbook. At least not for the movie. I can see why Marvel/Disney canned the Fantastic Four comics and refuses to support the brand in terms of merchandise. Fox really needs to get its act together. They can't keep coasting on Wolverine alone and its a miracle that Wolverine survived the two subpar solo films long enough to be used in that odd mashup that the film version of Days of Future Past ended up as. At this point I'm more inclined to believe its more because of the actors taking more of a role in decision making.

I do have hope for Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool though. Though that is because Reynolds actually understands (and has written for) the character and is passionate about the project.

All that said... if I could get the steelbook for under $10, I might consider using it as a base to make some custom steels via labels.

No one should have to apologize for liking Scott Pilgrim, it's a solidly entertaining film.

Yet to see anyone give a good reason for liking Fant4stic, though. There was one post on Tumblr that had someone shouting "It's supposed to be 80s!" Not that I understand how that works. If they mean an 80s vibe, they failed at that. It's clearly not set in the 80s. It doesn't feel like the Fantastic 4 comics published in the 80s. And saying that "it's not as bad as Fox's last Fantastic 4 movies" isn't a good reason. Personally, I feel like those films were better, and even if they were worse, saying "it's not as bad" doesn't make it good.

I should know indeed, I have impeccable taste in movies.

I'm also resistant to sarcasm, obviously.

I was also not entirely serious, just paraphrasing Zoidberg. Although Fant4stic is pretty terrible and I dare you to find something as terrible in my collection. "Dissing others just for liking a movie" is not my intention unless the movie in question is "Repo! The Genetic Opera" because screw that terrible excuse for a movie and anyone who likes it.

Also MORE LIKE CRAPT4STIC, AMIRITE GUYZ

I liked World's End very much and thought it was a great final entry in the trilogy. I may be a fan boy or I may just like the movies. Don't know, don't care, haters gonna hate.

Once again I am alienated from Tumblr. If you want 80s, watch Howard the Duck, The Punisher or X-Men: Apocalypse. I suppose Ant-Man also through the inclusion of Michael Douglas, but that's grasping as straws.

I know, the stuff I see on this forum and I'm like "are you seriously buying that film", because it's not like people have personal taste or anything like that.

Has anyone seen in store at HMV Ireland or Xtravision ? I ordered from Xtra-vision as only £16.99 when they had a 15% off promotion some months ago. However online they still saying awaiting stock, and no sign of it shipping.

Thumbs up What's not to like!

Watched this over Christmas and have to say I thought it was great fun. I knew it was a reboot so let the film tell me it's new take on the origin story (as with Batman Returns, The Amazing Spider-Man, etc). Some nice references to the comic books and just really enjoyed the ride. I felt it was paced well, peppered with action and told it's tale in an absorbing, fun and fulfilling way. Mrs BillSykes, who cannot remember the 2005 (?) movie, threw herself into the film and loved it. Said she couldn't understand the hate for this. Have to say I share her view.

IMHO this is a good superhero movie and I really hope there is another instalment.

Happy to add this fantastic steelbook to my shelves.
