Striking Vipers was one of the worst, if not the worst Black Mirror episode so far. Just a bland relationship drama without a gripping premise, surprising turns, controversy, anything.
Smithereens was way better, but still without the usual food for new thoughts on certain issues, just a depiction of reality. Should be shown [Show spoiler] .So what the first two episodes of season 5 did, was preparing me for a Black Mirror season completely lacking the Black Mirror vibe. With that in mind, what I got in Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too was a highly entertaining satire on the music industry and its surrounding milieu. Hugh props for Miley Cyrus and the role she played, I loved it. And I almost shat myself when one of my favourite bands, Idles, was mentioned. |

This is hands down one of the best shows on TV. Period. Yes some episodes are better than others, but overall the whole series is a trip. |

The series has always been more of a miss than a hit for me. This is latest batch is no different. The first episode was fine, the second one dull, and the third a chore, atrocious.

Well I didn't see the twist coming...and normally I'd be 'here we go again' with the Rainbow brigade....but the Asian babe was so banging hot I just went with it. In the VR aspect, even knowing there was a dude behind it in real life I probably would have just enjoyed the ride. LOL.

So true they force feed you in almost every movie, show, cooking shows lol it is ridiculous. Im all for equal rights but the demographic they push would mean half the world is gay, it is an actual turn off and probably does more harm then good to the people totally opposed to it. Im just glad im not the only one who notices this nonsense nonstop because many many people i am friends with say exactly the same thing

In the first one, at one point he asks what it’s like as a woman...just swap roles for goodness sake.

Episode 1 (Striking Vipers) - Didn't like it at first, but now that I think about it, it was actually pretty good. Maybe my expectations were too high after waiting a long time for a new season, 8/10
Episode 2 (Smithereens) - Didn't like the ending, but Topher Grace's performance was great, 8/10 Episode 3 (Rachel, Jack and Ashley Too) - Too predictable/unoriginal, 6/10 |

I've been a fan of the BM series for years; excellent sci-fi anthology series that is very insightful, topical, and disturbing. S05 was a solid season, but it's too bad there were only three episodes.
-Striking Vipers: Extremely unsettling episode. I kind of understand the point the show was trying to make - and, do agree sometimes people get so wrapped up with "relationships" they form on the computer - to the detriment of their own IRL relationships. Being a mild video game fan back in the '90's, the SG game did remind me somewhat of the iconic games Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, etc. -Smithereens: Good commentary on how addictive I-phones, the Internet, and social media are. [Show spoiler] TG was almost unrecognizable as the bearded, hippie-like CEO in this episode - LOL. -Rachel, Jack, and Ashley Too: Superb, gripping episode. Not a fan of Miley Cyrus' music (or any other girl-pop music for that matter), but you can't deny the incredibly huge fanbase these pop stars have. The Ashley Too robot/doll was interesting; and, I think Ashley's music & by extension this robot were commentary on how people can sometimes relate more to these types of things (music, "virtual friends", etc.) than they can to real life. Growing up in the '80's, I was much more of a fan of the music Rachel's metal/goth sister Jack was listening to, i.e. The Pixies, etc. It was funny how she referred to this music as "Vintage" - wow, that made me feel old - LOL. [Show spoiler] and then she & her band (which included Jack on guitar) sung an incredibly well-done cover of Nine Inch Nails' iconic classic Head Like a Hole - one of my all time favorite songs...from the '80's or any other era. Nice!

Started watching season five and the first episode did not disappoint.
If I were in that situation, it'd be hard to "leave" it because it'd feel too real or better yet, don't even join it. However, if he didn't experience he'd not know what it was. My favorite Black Mirror episodes: - Social Credit - Blocked by Everyone - VR Relation |
