Best Buy has usually been beating most folks out lately, Id lean more toward their date.

Chuck IV.
UHD HDR10 disc Lucy, Mad Max, Pacific Rim, and Warcraft are Reference Quality. Actually Sicario, Lucy HDR10 disc have already dropped to $14.99. And their UltraViolet Redeem code gives you free DV and Atmos at VUDU.COM. VUDU currently has 91 DV Atmos movie titles. It cost nothing to join VUDU App or VUDU.COM.

Lately Warner, Paramount, Universal, MGM can redeem code for DV UHD. On the more current VUDU additions. BUT Confirm your movie of choice before you redeem, to make sure you will get UHD(HDR) and not HDX(1080P). Pending now is Lionsgate... for VUDU DV UHD redeeming of code

Default LG UP970 4K UHD Blu-ray player

I see a lot of people connect their 4k players using both HDMI's. Is their a noticeable difference connecting the video and audio separate? I have a LG 4k tv but it's a couple of years old so I don't have HDR. I connect using ARC from my tv to my Denon receiver and then from my receiver to my Blu Ray player. I'm thinking about buying a 4k player but will my connection I use now work ok ?

I use both because I found my preamp to be causing some banding at odd times, even with processing off.

People use both HDMI cables because, if they are like me, while my Denon can pass a 4K signal, it cannot pass HDR through. So I would need to connect the video feed directly to my TV for HDR to work. I would then use the 2nd HDMI(audio only) and connect that to my receiver for the hi def audio.

I actually do it a similar way for my PS4 Pro now. I run the PS4 Pro's HDMI directly to the TV(for the HDR) and then run an optical cable from the PS4 Pro to into my receiver for the DD5.1 sound.

Thank you. Since I don't have HDR I should be good with my current connection then.

Value Electronics has had the 4/17 date up for a few weeks now. Best Buy still lists 4/10.

Bought this in the UK today.
First thoughts are that it's a lot more basic than my Panasonic UB700, both with settings and remote control; the player menu is very basic.
It also does not support 60Hz which is a big surprise since the Panasonic does.

Currently waiting a call back from LG support to see if the 60Hz support can be added via an update at a later stage along with Dolby Vision.

Do you mean it doesn't support 60Hz streaming? Or at all? It won't play the Billy Lynn disc?

There is only a 24Hz or 50Hz option in the menu, so I guess no to both the Bill Lynn disc and 60Hz streaming!

Do you have the disc to try out? 60Hz is part of the UHD BD spec. I can't imagine they'd release a player that wasn't fully compliant. I'm thinking that option may just be for streaming.

Tried it out with the 60Hz Spears and Munsil material, and no 60Hz mode. Jerky as f**k

That is unfortunate. I hope they get it sorted out soon. Maybe they thought they should limit it to 50Hz in PAL areas for some reason. Hoping the US player will have a 24/60 option at launch.

In the manual page 11

The 1080p or 2160p video output frame rate may be automatically set to either 24 Hz or 60 Hz depending both on the capability and preference of the connected TV and based on the native video frame rate of the content on the BD-ROM disc.

Looks like the UK market gets 50Hz and the US 60Hz.
Not sure why that would be!

60Hz should be there on any Blu/UHD player released in the UK, if only as a hangover from the PAL/NTSC compatibility stemming from the old DVD days. If it's not got proper 60Hz output then that's insane. Good old LG
