Jurassic Park 1-3 (1993-2001) 4K UHD

Anyone else having playback issues with part 3?
I have the German Steelbook set and a Sony x800.
The disc freezes at about 36 min and around 56 min.

Ordered the 4 movie box set via Amazon. With postage and import deposit it came to £40.

Not bad since the 3 movie box set costs £50 in the UK

Are the Jurassic Park 4K discs up-scaled from 2K masters? I remember reading this somewhere.

Completely disagree with this. T2 is a fantastic looking UHD, with great fine detail and a faithful color grade. And it comes from a 4K scan of the OCN. Yes, it has DNR, but it doesn’t take away from an overall reference presentation.

JP is by far the worst looking UHD I own. Both movies are in my top 10 BTW.

JP 3D Blu is significantly more detailed than the UHD and has a more faithful color grade to original 35mm prints. It also comes from a state of the art scan of the OCN. But it has DNR, preventing it from having a filmic look.

UHD comes from some IP that was used for the old Blu/DVD. It’s absolutely hideous. Why they did not use the high quality scan of the OCN that was used for the 3D release is mind boggling to say the least.

Can anyone confirm if the Jurassic World Trilogy 4K U.K. set (the currently available one) includes the extended version of Dominion please? Can’t see it mentioned anywhere.

If you look at the small print on the back cover it has runtimes for both cuts.

There’s only one 4K disc for Dominion with both cuts on it.

Jurassic Park is presented in a newly remixed Dolby Atmos object-based container.

Originally mastered by legendary Hollywood sound mixer Gary Rydstrom, Jurassic Park also premiered the DTS sound format in cinemas around the world, which replaced analog sound with a digital equivalent played off synchronized CD-ROM. This single biggest upgrade to theatre sound since silent films gave way to 'talkies' in the 1930s enshrined the film as the poster child for digital sound forevermore.

Unlike its video transfer, the many iterations of Jurassic Park's home entertainment mixes have been of a consistently high level, which has seen the film in high rotation in theatre demos for over three decades. And whilst some may express preference for one over the other, for me, this Dolby Atmos re-engineer takes things to a whole new level.

Over and above the addition of object-based discreet height information, there's an overall 'freshness' to the sound mix, which doesn't betray what has come before but presents it in a more contemporary fashion. I'm not sure how exactly it's been achieved, perhaps some utilization of new filtering tools, but crucially, there doesn't seem to be any new Foley effects added.

There are no real problems to speak of with regard to dialogue, and surround and split channel utilization is ever-present. Whilst bass usage is suitably impressive, I'm sure some will wistfully recall the greatly over-cooked version from the original Laserdisc.

Overall, this is a solid improvement over what's come before and won't be controversial for the majority of fans.

There was someone over at the AVS forum a couple of years ago who said every film on UHD should look like T2. He was totally serious.
