Yikes, I feel you.
Got lucky with this one, but I got it from kimchi. South Korea is problematic, because most of the time they are sort of tracked and also require a signature, which signals to customs that something valuable is inside. Even the cheap K-Packs are tracked within Korea and for some time now they continue being tracked. For Japan I'm routing everything through a Japanese proxy service unless its books and then use SAL, sometimes even ground SAL. Latter takes ages (2 months), but always gets through customs. Both of those are also dirt cheap. For books I use honto.jp and then use SAL directly with them. Last edited by jimidini; 07-26-2018 at 08:10 PM. |

I'm surprised that $20 usd would incur a customs fee!
![]() I'm in Canada, so can't really compare but usually the $40 usd threshold is where I start to see customs get involved. Taxes are another matter... seems to be whatever mood they're in that day. |
