I actually did wonder if that was Dillahunt.

Totally agree.

I liked the film but it seemed rushed like they could have added more. I’d like to get an extended cut for the BluRay, it would be nice but also a shame as that would mean the movie we watched first was cut down. We know how the movie ended for George Hearst but is that a satisfying conclusion? It basically screams sequel and we know that isn’t happening. So maybe there will be an extended cut on home video.
My question is what really changed from the last episode of season three to the end of the movie?

[Show spoiler]Al dies and a few characters get something resembling closure with each other. But that’s about it.

Hearst is in jail, presumably for a few hours, just like he was in season 2 or 3 or whatever it was.

It's one of the best series I have ever watched. And probably the closest you can get to the old West without a time machine (Shakespearean language notwithstanding).
It was cancelled after 3 seasons, so a lot of plot lines were left unresolved.

The movie attempts to fill in some of the blanks left by the cancellation, but 1 hr 49 minutes was not nearly enough time.

It's not Game of Thrones, but a couple of the characters are quite short.

The ending is FAR from terrible. The thing is, it wasn't supposed to be the series finale and that fact is definitely clear. At the very least, one season more was expected so the season 3 finale leaves a ton of stuff up in the air and isn't really satisfying at all.

But now that the movie is out... Deadwood fans finally have the proper, satisfying, and excellent series finale that we've longed for all these years.

It's rare to get a perfect ending to a TV show. Imo I believe Deadwood's hits that mark. And as far as final last lines go? All time greatness. GoT's was a clunker in comparison.

This movie is the series ending so no it had a PHENOMENAL ending now

I had honestly forgot about the Jane and Joanie relationship

Apparently Olyphant said in an interview recently that they shot enough to make three or four episodes so hopefully an extended cut will be released at some point.

I have no way of watching this anytime soon, and don't really care about spoilers. Hopefully that's not too hard for you to grasp.

It's pretty easy to grasp. It's just that it's very, very, incredibly stupid.

Well, from your comment it actually sounds like it's very difficult for you to grasp someone's perspective outside of your own. That's a very unfortunate quality to possess, but nobody is perfect.

Yep, nobody's perfect indeed.

Btw, there's a difference between "not really caring about spoilers" and actively seeking them out.

Never said there wasn't a difference between the two. I simply don't have HBO, and have no idea when I'll be able to watch this. I watched the show years ago and simply wanted to know what happens to the characters in the end. Not a reason to become disrespectful to someone.

Only thing I would've changed is I would've loved to see Marshall Bullock kill George Hearst and somehow Swearengen helps him cover it up.

Or that Bullock would have just handed him to Swearengen to do his thing. Bullock has always looked the other way when it came to him doing his thing cause he understands he maybe a bad guy but others or worst then him and he can do the dirt work that Bullock can’t do.

Swearengen shoud've killed Hearst, but "Our Father, who art in Heaven", "Let him funking stay there" is almost as good, or better.

I just watched the tv series for the first time this past year, but I found the most hilarious part to be when Jewel, The Gimp, says 'God!, he's always draggin' that funkin' leg!' about Al.

Elderlywood: The long episode. This has come about a decade too late. The dialogue feels overdone even for deadwood standards, everyone is just too damn old. I gave up 20 minutes in, still a fan of the show though.
