This movie truly is a gift from the past to the present.

Ebert gave this movie one star in 1972, and I suppose any of us may have done the same in the context of this being a new release.

So many things make this an amazing viewing experience in 2019:
  • Plays like a period piece, and to great entertaining effect
  • Cushing nostalgia
  • Lee nostalgia
  • far-out soundtrack that plays like an on-point retro tribute
  • doesn't take itself too seriously, compounding all of the above

I wasn't sure what to expect with this one but it is a keeper!

I watched my blind buy of the WAC Blu-ray today. Cushing is great as always. It was fun to see Dracula in the modern world. I also liked Stephanie Beacham in her role. Not that it impacts the movie one way or another, but given that he was playing Beacham’s grandfather, I found it amusing that Peter Cushing comes very close to copping a feel in multiple scenes. Regardless, I’m very happy with this one.

Agreed, just finished a rewatch. Laura Bellows, Gaynor Keating not becoming vampires stuck out as holes in the story, and missed opps for horrific creepiness. Also what became of Bob, Jessica's guy.. he was a turned vampire in the deserted Nightclub and suddenly he's found laying vampirized and dead in St. Botolph's Church yard (in daylight), as if it's some kind of revelation, unexplained. On the other hand I appreciated Cushing's performance more than ever in all the glory of the WAC release.

Lol!! I know just the scene you’re talking when Cushing is hovering over his... ahem.... granddaughter
