Don’t try it on with her now or you will very likely get a punch in the face from a very large Ukrainian boxer.

Otherwise, I don't see much use in upgrading. $25 for some better coloring and shading, Etc.... meh.

Anyone have any pictures of what this magical director's cut VHS looks like?

Scream is supposedly your all-time favourite film, but you weren't aware of the existence of the unrated cut?

Part 2 is great but the opening scene is too over the top for me. How was the film, in it's "sneak preview" stage, a big of a phenomenon as it was where everyone knew the Ghostface costume and was wearing it.

Sarah Michelle Gellar's death scene also feels very disconnected from the entire film. We only see her interact with Randy and Mickey so we immediately one of them is the killer.

The cafeteria singing scene makes me cringe every time as well. I tend to fast forward through that scene.

Also not a huge fan of the finale location on the stage set. Everything else is fantastic though and part 2 probably has the best red herrings.

Part 4 is almost as good as part 1, IMO. It just needed slightly longer chase scenes (imagine if Rebecca's chase scene was as great as Tree's parking lot chase scene in Happy Death Day), remove the "F Bruce Willis" line, and have better cinematography. Everything was so greasy and blurry looking. The beautiful modern houses they filmed in could've been filmed better.

I know it's out there. Just don't know what the supposed VHS it's on looks like?

Girl, VHS isn't my era. I do own a couple different Scream VHS though that I required from thrift shops.

I was just stating ones that had actually came out. I didn’t think about the coproductions. So many movies get “rumored” for release and it doesn’t happen. So am just overly cautious about saying movies are coming.

Collecting Miramax is definitely frustrating though as lots of dated masters, or lots of titles that are OOP that Paramount haven't reissued yet. Or of course titles stuck on DVD without an upgrade, or the rights have lapsed to someone else.

Me in Scream 6, the meta sequel, where the killer asks me how much longer the Scream director's cut is

Growing up I used to binge the first 3 movies at night before the fourth movie was released. Can’t wait for all 4 to be released on 4K and marathon them again in UHD/HDR.

I enjoyed Scream 1 & 2 back in the day. Never really bothered with the others. They're making a Scream 5? Wasn't there a TV show too?

With all this talk about an uncut version of Scream, I've only ever watched the edited for TV version that premiered on Fox.

I enjoy all of them, even 3. I think it is still an above-average slasher even if it is the lesser one of the whole franchise. I think 4 is criminally underrated. It was way too ahead of its time when it came out for audiences to appreciate its commentary on the new generations and their obsession with social media.

If I had to put them in order of my favorites: Scream, Scream 2 and Scream 4 are tied, and then Scream 3. There’s also to be said for all the main cast returning and always being main characters. I think it helped the franchise stay fresh. It is also probably the most consistent horror franchise of all time in terms of quality, imo, anyway.

In regards to the States, most of the films that were pickups from Dimension and Miramax (i.e. not financed or produced by The Weinsteins) have already made their way back to the original owners. Prior to the Paramount acquisition, the previous owners didn’t care about the films Miramax didn’t outright own.

Bridget Jones’ Diary is the only film listed here that could be released by Paramount in 4K.

Yes, well, when you set the bar low from the start, consistency with sequels can be very easy.

Sorry! Couldn't resist. Not trying to be trollish, I'll be buying "Scream 1" on 4K. I do think it's decent, saw it opening show Xmas day way back when, especially the Drew opening sequence. The sequels, don't care for much at all, I simply don't really like the group of actors/characters so one movie with them was enough for me, but that's for another thread.

I do hope this is the unrated cut of the original film, too.

Part 2:
The opening scene had a huge impact on everyone in the audience when I saw it in theaters in 1997, it was very meta at the time! Less so now that your watching it at home and not in a actual theater...

Sarah Michelle Gellar filmed the death scene first and then was brought back for the earlier scene in the class room (A deleted scene shows the class room scene with a different actress), apparently people were very confused why the killer went after SMG, so they brought her back to film that extra scene because the whole Killer mimicking the death from the original film somehow got dropped halfway thru the film....

Agree I hate that cafeteria singing scene, still cringy today!

The original ending to Scream 2 was changed due to a script leak, so the setting I believe was different originally, including the killers....

I will say that the Gale chase scene is one of the best in the series and Randy's death was a big shocker.

Part 3: Parker Posey was the best thing about Scream 3 and I always had hoped they would do a Dewey from Scream twist and have her brought out alive on a stretcher. It also had the misfortune of coming out after the Columbine shootings where the public began to frown upon violence in general, plus the Weinstein wanted the film PG13 to get more kids into the theaters.....

Part 4: It's just ok, not bad but not great either, I do think it's closer to what Kevin Williamson originally wanted Scream 3 to be. I still don't get the whole Kirby stan is about, that character is a watered down Randy!

Well, opinions and all that. But if it’s easy then why has this been the only horror franchise that reaches this level of consistency? I think the people involved really do try to keep a high level of quality instead of just making it a quick cash grab. So there’s something to be said about that imo. And as Cici says in the second one:

I kid I kid. I just couldn’t resist using the gif. It was too perfect.
