Pre-ordered from Bull Moose! I was back and forth between there and directly from Kino, but needed to exceed the shipping threshold and decided to order this from them! Can't wait to see this in 4K!

it's not cheesy at all... this is regarded as one of the finest remakes of all time and it lives up to the hype!

Definitely not cheesy at all. What I appreciate the most about the movie is the deadly serious tone. Sutherland's acting is a little hammy at times but that's about it.

It's probably not "Scary" per se but I find it disturbing and haunting.

There's a slight darkly humorous bent to some of it and that might be what he's reading as "cheesy"

Unfortunately some people detect this but then they internalize it as cheese. lmao

The "cheesiness" is due to the popularization of the Sutherland meme, which is technically a spoiler, so folks should not flip through those meme/gifs before they see the film.

This film is fantastic! Disturbing and Haunting is fairly accurate. It eerily resembles what's going on today, albeit more on social media. But this film is so much better than I ever thought it would be. It's one of my favorite Scream Factory releases, and because I enjoy it so much I'll probably upgrade to the KL 4K.

Other than being from an era just before I was born, I can't call this cheesy at all. Perhaps the wardrobe...?

I had the pleasure of seeing this in the theater at a young age. Back in the days when endings weren't spoiled.
What an ending.

What do we think the chances of this now being delayed are? I'd love to pre-order from Kino, but not if it's just going to be held up like everything else, now.

So I pre-ordered this and Hard Target from Kino a few weeks ago. I got charged immediately, and then refunded a few weeks later. Does that mean my order got canceled? (First time ordering from them)

John. They pre-charge your card to make sure you have the credit and in a few days it goes back into the account. When they ship it out it gets fully charged and you get the movies a few days later.Best Buy does the same thing.

Of course that's a stupid practice. Just because you have the funds when they do a pre-charge doesn't mean you'll have the funds available when they are ready to charge you and ship. And they can check if your account is legitimate with a simple $1 charge. I've always hated these full per-authorization charges. They're unnecessary. Especially when Best Buy does it over and over if the pre-order is a while away. Which is one of the many reasons I don't buy movies from Best Buy.

Great movie, but I have never seen a great print on video, so I am going to wait for a review.

I see shopping at Best Buy now as playing Russian Roulette. You might get your your item, you may not. You may receive your item damaged as hell, or not, etc...

You're correct - Body Snatchers '78 has never had a really good release on home video. The last remaster was quite good but that underlying 70's grittiness is still present. Some might say the remaster accurately recreates the "original aesthetic" inherent to the original photography- I suppose that's true but it's still a dirty-looking film. We'll see how the Kino release fares; I'm not expecting a huge upgrade tbh.

I've had to cancel a handful of Best Buy preorders in the last few months due to their inability to fulfill but I've always been able to buy the same title elsewhere before I've cancelled. It's just the way things are these days.

Dear Kino, I have your new Misery 4k uhd (wow great job A-) and your new Silence of the Lambs 4k uhd (wow what a shame C+).

PLEASE do not release a Body Snatchers 4k uhd product next month with two blatantly different color spaces, and a rubbish downmixed audio track. We'll notice. This would also be a capital sin to commit such atrocities against Body Snatchers 1978. Thank you.

I'd say whatever has/hasn't been done to Body Snatchers '78 for their UHD is now set in stone, it's prolly at the replicators already. And it's not like Kino have some diabolical track record with UHD all of a sudden, we even got the actual OG Aussie mono on Mad Max and not the US foley and effects with Aussie dialogue mono mix that's been masquerading as the OG mono for years.

With SOTL Kino inherited a HDR master that no-one knew had anything wrong with it for like three years (or however long it's been on streaming/digital) so Kino were none the wiser, and although I'll concede that the 2.0 audio being a downmix is an unfortunate turn of events we can only hope that they pay more attention to what MGM gives them in future. Of all the majors who license stuff out it often seems to be MGM's movies that are missing something or have a general **** up somewhere and I don't think that's a coincidence.
