Me neither.
I am a sucker for sets with the most extras, but for some reason I’m not gonna add this to my collection.

It feels like overkill

I also hesitated to spend the time to watch all the extras, but it was well worth it.

My Panasonic player allows me to still hear audio when fast forwarding at 2x speed, so i watched all the appendices at 2x speed.

This looks interesting - on paper. Depending on quality and construction I might grab these again. If it's a flimsy box I won't.

Thtat’s just fan art that’s been around for a while.

I'd also bet we get the full appendices and Costa Botes docs. But will these be upscaled for the LOTR material? Will the Hobbit webisodes from the theatrical blu-rays be included?

For additional features: I personally would love to see the missing deleted scenes from LOTR. I'd also love to see reunion videos and a feature on the impact of LOTR in popular culture. For a pipe dream, I'd love to see a feature on exactly what happened with the Hobbit director change/switch to 3 films. This has been mentioned in existing features, but I feel there is still a lot left on the table.
Honestly I’m not expecting much. This SHOULD be like a definitive box set where they go all out (each movie on 4K AND Blu-ray, every single extra from every previous edition of each movie ported over, lots of meaty new extras, etc.) but I have a feeling it’s going to be the existing discs and only new bonus material created for this set.

And my guess is that the new bonus material won’t even be anything amazing. Honestly I’m just expecting some “fluff” pieces (cast and crew members talking about how they “can’t believe that it’s been 20 years since Fellowship of the Ring came out”).

And will I still get this even if that’s the case?

You betcha

My god, what more can you possibly know about these films? When I bought the original extended versions I watch all of the extras. It was cool then, but I never watched them again. Most likely it would put me to sleep if I attempted to watch them again. This huge set is to me, totally unnecessary. The 4K release is where I draw the line. This set will more likely appeal to the obsessive fanboys that has to have everything when it comes to Middle Earth.

The only thing I would want inthis set is all the deleted / extended / alternate / unused filmed scenes that were produced.
I remember with the previous boxset that PJ was willing to include new deleted scenes but that was cancelled by Warner/Metropolitan for financial reasons....

I really hope we will have the chance to see them in this boxset.

I have little hope, but still have some.
Green tint issues. I still have this, but only for the special features. The 4K sets last year are fine enough for me. Its not necessary to double dip in another boxed set for some meaningless new special features when the appendices are much more than enough already, and the new transfers look amazing on my TV.

I've probably watched the extra features for each of the trilogies more than I've watched the films. They are the best behind the scenes documentaries released for a film.

This doesn't offer any 'new information' at all. Is this saying that the new set will be a 31 disc set?

They confirmed the disc number 31 a month ago.
yes, that’s all. Only one bonus disc.
Maybe none of the previous DVD or BD bonus materials will be included.
They also confirmed a new LotR extended blu-ray release , which is still 6bd+9dvd.

What's the point of an ultimate Middle East collection if it doesn't have any of the previous features and only one disc of reunions which would probably be available on YouTube? Lame.

Maybe exactly the same bonus DVDs as the 2011 extended collection, with new remastered BDs.
