It's not for you. Fine, move on. But you've come in here many times to try to admonish and shame anyone for not being as upset by the movie as you are. Mr. Thomsen's comments were xenophobic garbage, but frankly, I hope you don't receive another reply from him because the thread will get even more off-topic than it already has been. Take your conversation into private messages, if you really want to continue it.

Your point has been made many times over, and you're not going to change the fans' minds. Why not just accept that it isn't for you and move on to another discussion?
I agree with you. I won't comment anything further on this topic and thanks for acknowledging his comment was below the belt. I see the Admins already deleted his comment and may have warned him so he won't come back to reply to this and I agree if he does we can take it to pms.

Alright guys let's continue to the discussion about movie. Ignore my opinions I made previously. Don't want this thread to go more off track.

Same eyepatch as the team selling the film in Cannes 1973 used in promotion the movie would be awesome.

If possible, the AIP They Call Her One Eye. Not for prudish reasons, and not to start that thread tangent again, but for completist reasons. Not asking for the Synapse Vengeance edit.

Vinegar Syndrome taking the gloves off in their new newsletter:

And yes, we are aware of the inferior BD, utilizing a nearly 20 year old master that is being sold and are working to resolve that situation. But if you, as a connoisseur of exploitation cinema, wish to see THRILLER looking the best it ever has, and in the most comprehensive edition that ever will be, and believe that filmmakers ought to be respected (and paid for their work) we highly encourage you to wait a few more weeks to place an order for the VS edition. It'll be worth it.

I think the hardcore parts weaken the film. They look like close-ups pulled out of another porn movie of people casually screwing. It's not quite as jarring or obvious as something like The Sinful Dwarf, but still a bit crude and mismatched. I never knew director actually always meant for them to be there. Had just assumed it was something tacked on by a distributer at the last minute, to get the film on more screens in the porno chic era.

Cool. How many times does it take for people saying the same thing to magically change the film? We get it. But it's irrelevant.

From Vinegar Syndrome about Thriller a cruel picture UHD+Blu-ray:

We've already spilled a lot of ink on our exclusively licensed edition of THRILLER, but it bears repeating: we are currently working on a new and exclusive restoration of the film from its never before accessed uncensensored original camera negative, which will present the film looking bigger and better than it ever has before.
Extras are also stacking up, including revealing interviews with star Christina Lindberg, along with numerous other cast and crew who have never publicly discussed their work on the film. On top of that, we have plentiful trailers, stills, outtakes, and artwork galleries, and even a very special extra featuring the film's enigmatic director, Bo Arne Vibenius!

And yes, we are aware of the inferior BD, utilizing a nearly 20 year old master that is being sold and are working to resolve that situation. It's kind of funny to see, Synapses trying to sell as many copies as possible posting links where to buy. Personally I'll just wait for the VS full restoration in 4K. Hopefully they resolve this issue amicably or it'll be one of those "cease and desist" situations.

Kind of sucks, I already pre-ordered and received the Synapse version before I knew about VinSyn's. I still planning on picking up that one if for some reason it isn't included in the monthly subscription. That being said, I still plan on hanging on to the Synapse version for collector's purpose's. It might end up being a cool thing to have, kind of like 88's release of Blood Harvest, which turned out not to be no-so official as well.

We'll know the gloves are off, when Vinegar Syndrome drops a 4K of Suckers in the Halfway to Black Friday sale.

I'm not bothering with a Blu-ray using 20-year old master that was simply rushed out. I knew the VS release was coming shortly after (probably even before?) Synapse announced their pre-order, so I see no point in touching it first. Maybe the value will go up on it later on, but I'm just not bothering.

New scan? No. New bonus features? No. Synapse probably could have released this on Blu-ray many years ago with little issue, and it would have sold well for them. But they simply take forever to release anything thinking there's ample time to sit on it... but this one they felt the need to rush out the door for an obvious reason.

One of the releases is eventually going to get pulled. Perhaps even both might due to litigation. I'll get the UHD/BD however with the restoration from the negative + new bonus features. I don't foresee that it will even be a contest between the two in quality.

One of the first "exploitation" movies I ever watched as a teen. Thank you Mr. Tarantino for introducing me to these via Kill Bill

Might have to snag this for nostalgia sake. Hits home. Never owned a Vinegar Syndrome 4k release before.

100% agree. After seeing VS whine about the Synapse release in their latest newsletter it was almost enough to convince me to go pick up the Synapse edition but then I reminded myself that Synapse is a label that squats on licenses for 10+ years at a time without doing a thing with them and so that thought was quickly brushed aside. The idea of spending $45+ on a VS release is equally unappealing as a standard Blu Ray would more than suffice for this film, but it is what it is at this point.

Given how this has played out I'm sure VS is more than a bit annoyed that they agreed to share the work that they completed on the Creature from Black Lake release with Synapse last year when those licensing issues came about.
