Tom Holland is a good Spider-Man, he just needs to get a much better story/script to work with compared to No Way Home and Far From Home.
Homecoming, that was great IMO for story. Vulture, great villain too. Far From Home, I felt like I was watching a high school Romance film instead of a Spider-Man film. I know some loved it, but it was not on par with the prior film's writing/story. I don't want to see Parker's friends get the spotlight since they're not the star I paid to see, yet that is exactly what was happening in Far From Home with his pal hanging around way too long. No Way Home, that was better and got back to focusing on Spider-Man and the action more, but the story was missing a lot and seemed thrown together, dependent on main characters making really stupid decisions and mistakes. Mistakes in No Way Home? Okay, first, good action, effects and neat to see the 3 Spider-Men along with the classic villains again. That was cool. But... Dr. Strange allowing Spider-Man to [Show spoiler] Whoever is going to be writing this new Spider-Man movie yet to be made, I hope they have a great story to start. Avoid the issues of Far From Home and No Way Home. |

I just want a truly solo Spider-Man movie again. He's had cameos, other MCU characters, and multiverse co-stars, etcetera in his first 3 movies. Now that nobody knows he's Peter Parker I just want him by himself figuring out his own shit with his big brain. No hand holding.

I think his Spider-Man has been okay at best and complete crap at worst. I blame the writing more than Holland's acting though. I was excited that they cut him off from the baggage of the MCU at the end of No Way Home, but they haven't done anything with it.....

I feel like a street-level Spider-Man 4 kinda writes itself. Peter tries to establish himself as a solo hero and get back in the Avengers' good graces. Introduce Gwen Stacy as a love interest and have some tension over whether he'll get with her or reconnect with MJ. Pick a villain who had appeared in NWH and draw parallels between this Peter and one of the other versions, have him question whether he's just repeating the same mistakes as they did. End with him getting back with the Avengers, post-credit stinger setting up the symbiote suit appearing in Secret Wars.

I hated Ned and MJ. They were shit characters with the straddled dialogue they had. Those movies, and Marvel Studios' all the more as time goes by... just has a lot of bad humor. Especially sense so much of it is needless. Marvel already has us by the balls, it's okay to just play it straight as long as it is engaging. It's like they're afraid to lose the audience. A lot of dumbing down. Just write a compelling script with complex drama and engaging characters.
I enjoy the Holland films but cut out the crap humor from other characters. I get that Spidey is a funny annoying guy in the suit but man... his supporting cast really sucks. |

the only problem is that he's probably going to be older by the time that they film the movie, and will have an harder time doing his own stunts

I'd agree with Into but Across did way too much in the third act for its own good. The ending isn't great either.

Holland too old to do stunts?! He's only 28 for crying out lout. It's not like it's hard to get a bit of stunt rope stuff they usually have to help. He could easily play the character into a mature established mid 20s Parker if he wanted working for the Bugle, selling his photos and have a solo outing if he wanted. I actually wouldn't mind seeing Felicia Hardy make a splash onto the screen as Black Cat proper and Sydney would get bums in seats but i think teasing Kingpin as a big bad in the background and having a character like Shocker or Scorpion teamed up with Vulture would bring things full circle to the first movie.

Oh, no. How will we ever keep making movies w/o the actual actor in there for everything? Oh, no. Nooooooooo. The horror.

I agree that Spider-Man needs to be a lone hero again in a movie. No more team stuff including his friends tagging along way too long.
Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse, great animated movie where Miles learns from Spider-Man and they're a Teacher/Apprentice team, but a lot depended on Miles himself to succeed later on. Across the Spider-verse, I felt that story lost the focus on Miles, and switched more to Gwen and all the other characters. Way too many characters IMO. Less is often more. |
