I'd forgotten about Alpha - I think RSM tried for that but Sony wouldn't play ball, I would love to see that one in 3D. Perhaps they could get Angry Birds 2 to go along with it.

Of the unreleased Sony titles it's Venom: Let There Be Carnage that would do best I am sure but again RSM tried and Sony said no.

Of all the Universal animated releases yet to get a 3D blu-ray, my number one pick has to be The Super Mario Bros. The 3D is actually pretty great and the movie was awesome. Can only dream of those visuals with the atmos track to go with it.
In addition to Puss in Boots, would also like Trolls 1 and 3 to complete the trilogy, Kung Fu Panda 4 and Migration.
And how can I forget the one that got away, Sing 2.

Also, I noticed that only Jurassic World is sold out in Turbine’s shop, at least now, so I guess people really wanted some Dino action in Atmos. I’m assuming that was the most double dipped title of the 3 released.

Couldn't agree more...those two movies are at the top of my list and throw in the 3D Mission Impossible title as the cherry on top.

In a great new article, thedigitalbits reports that studios are revising their negative approach to physical media and may be willing to do more licensing. Lets hope that this applies for 3d also and that Turbine gets licensing deals that were unavailable to RSM.

Germany and Europe are a much better location than Australia was to distribute 3D Blu-ray discs. There are a lot of potential customers in the European Union to whom sales can be made without additional customs fees. I hope that studios will appreciate the 3D Blu-ray project more and more and we will see some fantastic titles in 3D from Turbine.

I love animated 3D but a lot of people dismiss these titles as films for kids (which of course they are). Live action 3D will always have much more appeal to adults.

If Turbine can get Paramount to play ball, Mission Impossible Fallout, Bumblebee and Rise of the Beasts will sell out just as quickly as Jurassic World Dominion did, if not faster. Guaranf-ingteed 100%.

Jackass 3D is also a spectacular use of the format, I would buy that in a second.

I'm hopeful they'll keep releasing in batches of 3. It probably introduces economies of scale when pressing discs and is a handy way of boosting sales of less popular titles.

One headline live-action release and 2 animations/re-releases. Everyone is a winner.

Although, if all we get is the Emoji Movie that's still a minor miracle.

Licensing in batches also allows studios to get a return on less desirable titles alongside the most wanted ones, everybody wins.

For me, animation movies are only watchable when a/the 3D version is available. One exception I can have a lot of fun with 2D, while never produced in 3D, is "Rango.

Only released "flat" 3D titles are nonexistent for me, no matter how great the franchise is. There are a lot animated movies that are so much fun in 3D! Will buy the "lost" animation 3D titles from Turbine but also hope they will come combined with "lost" Live Action 3D titles.

At a wild guess I'd say half? of all 3d blu ray releases are animated? There's a deep well of animated content to discover but I agree the ratio of wheat to chaff is off putting.

I've progressed from dismissing the genre entirely to appreciating some of the better entries and like you I prefer the non conventional animation styles. If you like Spiderverse there are some great anime-style discs from Japan and France which break the Hollywood mould and are more adult in nature.

Would there be any scope for Turbine to negotiate IMAX licensing rights for relevant discs? You are already giving us the premium audio experience so the premium visual experience would be the perfect fit on new and re-released titles. I'm sure they would also command premium prices!

I don't think you are in the minority - most adults prefer to watch movies made for adults, that shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

There is a lot of "youngsters" here too, the 20's to early 30's y-o now have a tendency of liking the animated movies more in comparison to who is in their 40's and up, pretty much a generational thing.

Maybe so, but do those in their 20s and 30s like animated films MORE than live action? I would say not.

Well with any 3D movies, it used to be I wouldn't buy the 2D because I knew it would likely be included. The Japan Marvel releases all included the 2D so knowing those were coming, I didn't buy them otherwise. And same for all 3 RSM releases that are Turbine's first wave, I hadn't bought any of those movies before then, and I liked that they included the 2D:

If you make your own digital copies, watching a movie on the go (again assuming you prefer the original 2D and not just one eye of the 3D) is another use case for the 2D version.

I think we have a good but still pretty small sample size here of 3D buyers, I think there's probably a sufficient number of people who would be interested in having the 2D version included for various different reasons, perhaps dependent on the particular movie as well.

If Turbine is able to catch up any older releases for us, then yeah, I'll probably have the 2D already, but for any newer releases, it's likely I won't have bought them yet. So now I have to buy two copies at normal/premium prices if I want the 2D (and usually I do want it for my collection), instead of buying just one copy with a slight premium, as RSM did it.

Hey, I'm 42 and I love me some animated movies a lot.

When people grow to adult they tend to say they don't like to watch cartoons/animated movies because of other people's criticism (that's why they watch with their kids those contents to be clear from that). I'm proud of saying that I like to watch animated movies and some cartoons (most from the early 2000's, from the 90's, 80's and older than that). Anime is a cliché to say that is aimed for kids because most isn't, it's western people that think that way... because most anime content is aimed to teenagers and adult people.

I think that others that don't like just weren't cartoon/animated movies consumers as kids or in their teens and when they had the chance to watch them just weren't their flavour.

Agreed on these most wanted lists, would buy any of these. (As per previous posts, have held off on 2D disc for some of these, with premium price on Turbine releases and since they are a "Collector Series", would be nice if they could include the 2D disc as well.) Mission Impossible Fallout is at the top of my most wanted list:

Disney/Pixar stuff would sell for sure but Disney seem determined not to take our money, imagine the Star Wars prequel trilogy being released on 3D Blu-ray, they are simply INSANE for not cashing in. Maybe one day when they become a for-profit company again...

But you've reminded me of the Maze Runner sequels, those really would be great on 3D Blu-ray...
