Love when people call movies and other art "x-quality" like they're measuring food safety or a car, it's very nice

Yeah, but it has
[Show spoiler]a happy ending...
which is probably why most of the haters hate it.

And also, it didn't have
[Show spoiler]a clever twist
which people were learned to expect from Fincher's movies after Se7en, The Game and Fight Club. It was just an expertly crafted straightforward thriller. Those two reasons are probably the main reasons why some people were dissappointed with it.

I believe Panic Room case is very similar to Quentin Tarantino's Jackie Brown. Fanboys fell in love with his first two movies (Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction) and when Tarantino offered something different than just juvenile violence, their clan was betrayed and they hated it. The difference being of course that Se7en and Fight Club are real masterpieces.

I remember being a bit disappointed by the ending when I first saw this in the theatre. I had been hoping we were going to get the rug pulled out from under us again, the way Fincher did with the endings of Se7en, The Game and Fight Club. But it quickly became my favourite Fincher movie because it's a really well-made, fun thriller. It's just so damn watchable.

Also, Jodie Foster is an absolute knockout in that tank top.

After they announced the current Se7en 4K, didn’t they first show the steelbook then a week or two later show the standard release also being available? Really hope this rolls out the same way.

I see where you're going, but I can't agree.

Panic Room is a solid thriller, but in many ways it is a movie that some others could have made. It's not a signature kind of film. The characters and such are kind of typical for the genre, and there is a standard kind of quality to it. Like Red Eye from Wes Craven a few years later. A good film, but not much more substance that other similar thrillers of the times.

Yeah, there are typical Fincher elements found in Panic Room, but I don't remember the elements really lifting that film to a higher level. It just feels like a good genre thriller mostly.

Panic Room is a good popcorn flick but the script is dumb.

I'll never understand the logic in continuously popping into a thread for a film I know I hate to continuously hammer home to everyone else how much I hate said film. We get it, dude. No one's trying to sway you and your enraged rambling isn't gonna convince anyone either. Is this Fincher's best? No. Is it one of the worst films of all time? Also no. It's not even in contention for worst film of 2002. It's just a solidly made, albeit dumb genre thriller.
