Anyway, bring on the M&C 4K. I'm very much in.

That nice artwork wouldn't have quite same impact on a boring plastic case. And in case you say "it's the movie that counts", while true, collectors also appreciate cool window dressing sometimes It's really no big deal. It's just packaging.

Seen A Beautiful Mind? Crowe & Bettany were both great in that one as well.

A shame that we're still missing many of extras from the Fox DVD editions:

Quote:
DISC TWO
"The Hundred Days" documentary (68:38)
"In the Wake of O'Brian" featurette (19:24)
Featurettes
- "Cinematic Phasmids" (30:02)
- "Sound Design"
-- "On Sound Design" (17:47)
-- Interactive Cannon Demonstration
- "HBO First Look" (25:02)

Deleted Scenes (with Play All) (24:20)
- Weighing Anchor (4:17)
- Shipboard Life (9:49)
- Superstition (3:21)
- Dentistry (1:09)
- Articles of War (2:44)
- Galapagos (3:00)
"Multi-Camera Shooting" multi-angle featurettes
- "Surprising the Surprise" (2:40)
-- Camera Angle A
-- Camera Angle B
-- Camera Angle C
-- Camera Angle D
-- B-Roll
-- Composite
- "The Final Battle"
-- 4 Camera Setup (5:18)
--- Camera Angle A
--- Camera Angle B
--- Camera Angle C
--- Camera Angle D
--- B-Roll
--- Composite
-- 3 Camera Setup (2:06)
--- Camera Angle A
--- Camera Angle B
--- Camera Angle C
--- B-Roll
--- Composite
-- 2 Camera Setup (1:57)
--- Camera Angle A
--- Camera Angle B
--- B-Roll
--- Composite
- "Split-Screen Vignette" (4:32)
Still Galleries
- Conceptual art by George Jensen
- Conceptual art by Daren Dochterman
- Naval art
- Technical Drawings
Trailers
- Theatrical Teaser (1:21)

- Theatrical Trailer (2:43)
- International Trailer (1:03)
There was also a Best Buy exclusive with a third DVD, though it only has one featurette and I'm not sure if the trailer is a repeat:

Quote:
DISC THREE
"Behind the Seas: A Filmmaker's Journey" featurette (19:15)
Theatrical Trailer (2:45)
Bonus Trailers
https://www.dvdcompare.net/compariso...m.php?fid=4820

regardless, that's a lot of extras from the Fox DVDs still missing and it looks like Disney is even going to drop the theatrical trailer that is on the Fox Blu-rays.

At this point I'm guessing non-Marvel movies will only ever get steelbooks from Disney, and all catalogs from them and Sony will be steelbooks. Unless it's MOD. I'd almost rather everything be MOD.

Gotta get used to it. Especially in Disney's case since they have never reissued any of their steelbook only releases later.

Your only hope for a standard release is if the UK gets one.
At least Lionsgate, Paramount, and WB price them reasonable. Sony just goes batshit with their pricing.

Elevation seems to care more about their consumers than Sony does, and it spread to their Disney titles. Sony and Disney have learned the worst lessons from each other.

The jcard for this just says collectible, so it should be another Tombstone situation where they come in and out and not Kingdom of Heaven where it was limited and only have came back the once and probably last.

Master and Commander was co produced by 4 studios (20th Century, Miramix, Universal and Samuel Goldwyn Films). Big Oscar winning movies like Braveheart and Titanic were co-productions with distribution perks ( Paramount in NA and Fox elsewhere). Master and Commander has different different distribution studios. Eg. Miramix for Italy, NA/UK/Germany/Scandinavia is 20th Century. France/Japan is Universal.

Will the 4k disc be shared to the co-distributors in their region or we will only see a 20th Century 4k release in areas where it hold the rights?

Pattern says UK standard with slip (Willow, Tombstone, Kingdom of Heaven, …)

Hopefully that continues to hold true.

They did pretty well with the KoH extras and keeping just about all of them. I'm hoping it'll be the same for this one as well.

Even if the UK release happens there's those godawful ratings logos. Actually the Italian release from Eagle for Tombstone is pretty attractive, maybe that'll be an option with this too?

Good, that means people can see it early and let us know if the Atmos is missing dialogue in advance of the disc release, like The Wiz.

No cheaper than a plastic case which you still pay out of the ass for.
