Probably a good call. An "unholy" alliance. Hope they add a few super characters not in the first movie. Maybe more space oriented ones like Adam Strange, Mister Miracle, etc. along with the new Wonder Woman (and maybe cameos by the DCU Batman, Flash, and Aquaman?). I typically don't like a lot of heroes crammed into one movie but I want to know which ones are already up and running in the DCU.

As much as I love superman, 3 super related movies already when its only 2 movie per year or 1 if a elseworld movie counts is kind of dissappointing cus i would love to see other heroes movies as well and plot progression ends up taking 15 years lol.

Superman has been getting dicked around for so long as far as films go. So him finally getting some love and being treated like the A-lister he is will never be a bad thing to me. Bring on more Superman and Superfamily content.

It's refreshing to have a Superman focused DC after decades of 90% Batman.

Biggest mistake in the first movie was
[Show spoiler] having Lex kill someone.

Now you can't make him an antihero or loveable villain because of that. It's the same blunder Snyder made when he had batman
[Show spoiler] kill people

I would absoultly agree if it didnt mean other characters would be getting sideline cus of this. Now if we were getting 4 movies a year or even 3 then it would probly be ok but I want to see green lantern, flash, aquaman, wonder woman, doom patrol, teen titans, zatanna, constantine and many others get a chance and not just completely focus on batman and superman and also not take 20 years cus of the slow pace.

Ehhhhhhhh… Lex has done awful things plenty of times, and turned face for brief periods in the comics too. This new DC universe is very much a living breathing comic book, so I can’t see why that isn’t possible here either considering how Lex was left with a broken ego seeing everybody in the city happy watching him being hauled away. Him becoming “Good” would only happen because he’d rather repair his own ego, and public image.

Also falsely imprisoning people in a secret pocket universe. That’s some Hitler/Holocaust level shit. Why would Superman work alongside someone like that?

It could be like a suicide squad situation where they just use him for his talents/abilities and then when it’s over he goes straight back to prison.

I trust Gunn. He’ll make it make sense I’m sure.

That’s usually how it goes for Lex. “Turns a new leaf”, and then it’s revealed that he’s become an even more powerful adversary.

Kinda a spoiler… Lex will probably be in control of Brainac by the end of this movie. Either as the third act, or the potential big team up movie after this.

[Show spoiler]you have a (probably) alien villain trying to kill them all
?

Superman will maybe meet Batman in this next film. Or Wonder Woman or Aquaman. But it's more likely Gunn will introduce more new characters we don't see as often and make them main characters.

No need to set up a Team leveled movie when you can just start doing that right from the start, first with his The Suicide Squad, continued with Superman and Superman 2: Man of Tomorrow.

If they can get it completed that fast, that's very good.

With all the Metahumans in the world, you literally just put anyone in small parts without really having solo films for them. Especially the two dimensional heroes that look fun, but can’t carry a film on their own.

That's it.

They could continue with new films, but just switch focus from one hero's story, in this case Superman, to then focus on another hero as the new star in a separate movie. So maybe Green Lantern could have his own movie if they really wanted to go that route, and Superman would be more of a side character in that spin-off type of film.

Sort of like the Superfriends series or Justice League, but each new film would be sort of like a new episode, focusing on a new hero that didn't get the spotlight in prior films.

Will be interesting if they take it that route, in terms of consistency/continuity.

If they can’t get Batman running because of internal politics, then DC should try for The Question.

Personally I don't still think Hoult has the gravitas for it, but a President Lex Luthor movie adaptation would be wild.

Although I'm a huge Batman fan Superman needs to be the lead in the DCU. I kind of like Batman staying in the shadows, being more mysterious than out in the open.

It's still pretty odd to me though how Gunn seems to be loading his Superman movies with other heroes generally we never saw in the core IP for Superman. Like Green Lantern, Mr Terrific, Hawkgirl and others. He would usually have to deal with his own rogues himself.

So even if we got Brainiac for example as the core villain in the sequel, if Lex has to team up with Superman, then we have Mr Terrific return and all the rest plus another Green Lantern and maybe Kara as Supergirl, it is going to look overly stuffed as a movie is my concern.

Superman just about got away with it but had Mr Terrific never been in the picture, it begs the question whether Superman could have averted the sequence of events in the movie.

Here are the three images shared by David Corenswet, Nicholas Hoult and James Gunn:

Looks like Superman and Lex will fight then team up against a bigger threat.
