Let's think reasonably here. Multi-packs that have separate movies in them (e.g. Pirates of the Carribbean Trilogy and the Spider-Man Trilogy) should be counted as more than one movie. However, sets with multiple cuts of the same movie should still count as one movie, e.g. Blade Runner and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.

I think things should be left as they are, i.e. each "item" you add to your collection only counts as 1.

If you start breaking items up into multiple titles, things start to get very confusing and inconsistent. Discs with multiple cuts may seem like obvious 1 title items, but it's not that simple. What about when different cuts of the film are sold separately - those are obviously 2 items, so why would they only be 1 if they happen to be sold together? Are we defining items as films, or as retail packages? If we're defining items as films, would you count having both a regular edition and a later double-dip collector's edition of the same film as only 1 item as well? And within boxsets, how do you define what constitutes a film? Does The Animatrix count as a film? If there's a separate disc with a documentary, but it's a feature-length one that has also been released independently, does that count as a film? How do TV seasons count? How about sets that compile multiple seasons? How about the crazy Masters of Horror releases, where one season is spread out over 4 separate retail packages?

Defining an item as a retail package is simple - there is no ambiguity to it. There are a finite set of retail packages, and there's no way to interpret them as anything other than what they are. If you are one of those who deconstructs every box set into its separate parts, then just add the items to your collection as if you bought them separately. Buy the 20-BD cube and want it to show up as 20 items? Add the individual versions of each of the 20 titles to your collection. Buy the Die Hard collection but want it to show as 4? Add the 4 individuals. You choose how your collection counts films by what retail packages you choose to add.

Yes, there are a few examples where retail packages aren't sold in individual components, so you can't break them down (like The Matrix collection) - but there are far fewer issues like this than there would be with the other scheme, and at least the rules are consistent as there just simply isn't a retail package for the individual titles yet.

Well sets like POC and Resident Evil if it's an issue just pick the individual titles instead of the box set. But for Spider-Man, can you buy the first two without the set?

Great feature! However, it need two things. First, I cannot list some of my UK imports (region A) such as The Island, Cinderella Man, Starship Troopers, ect. Second, Collectors sets such as the Godfather and the Matrix Trilogy should count for each movie that is included in the box set. However, Close Encounters and Blade Runner have different versions of the same movie and should one count as 1. Make it happen Iceman, so I will have no need to go to dvdafficionado.

Is there any process to submit missing titles so they can be added? And are there plans to eventually allow German, Italian, etc. releases?

I don't expect Blu-ray.com to waste a ton of time and find all these random import titles to add, but just a way for us to upload the information ourselves if we want a certain title available to add to the collection would be great. I already have a list of 10 I'd upload the information for (my real number is 201, not 191).

I would like to enter the price I paid vs retail so I know how much money I saved. A location field would offer you affiliate linking options too. The other two you mentioned have no use to me. Thank you for the feature and listening!

As far as movie counts, how about a disc count instead? So the Harry Potter gift set at 7 discs is properly worth more than the 5 individual titles. Then you can all argue if 50gb discs count as double 25gb discs. 8)

I think it's ridiculous that there's no search functionality to find movies to add to your collection on the collections main screen. I sat here for 5-10 minutes trying to figure out how in the World to add movies until I realized that you have to go to the movie's page to add it.

Awesome idea, but a few terrible UI decisions.

Thanks for giving me something to do at work though

These are all great features that I already track, but I think the price/amount paid field needs to be something the user is capable of making hidden from others. DVDspot allowed this to be a hidden field. DVDspot also allowed you to hide an individual title or your entire collection.

And for the debate about title count- maybe we should have two numbers. Title Count / Movie Count. DVD spot did this also.

I only mention dvdspot as a reference, but I much prefer having only blu-ray to deal with here. Thanks and keep the new features coming.
