After DVDSpot shut down (a very sad day), I switched over to DVD Profiler. I have over 1,000 DVD's and JUST started my BluRay collection.

So, I have just started using THIS place as a second location to track my BluRays.

I use this site for quick survey's but use Dvd Profiler for my collection, some blus are not on this site and I need to keep track of my dvds and 140 or so HD dvds. Been using it for a few years and really like it.

My buddy at work is a bit of an excel guru and he showed me this excel spreadsheet he created to track all of his movies.

He created some macro which automatically updates this spreadsheet with a IMDB info for movies that he owns. It then goes out and compares the title to IMDB, brings back the exact title, updates the spreadsheet with the year, rating, rank, imdb #, and date entered.

He then has all these other buttons and crap on other tabs, where he can click a button and it randomizes what movie to watch. So it goes thru his entire list of blurays, and other movies then pops up a suggestion.

It's pretty cool but kinda OCD.

Thanks

I don't really have that many to be worried over, so I just go by memory... If I had to wonder though, this site is perfect.

He either really is a genius, or he lied to you and he actually manually enters all that stuff.

I'm hoping he's actually a genius, because I've been trying to figure out how to do this for a while

Any chance you could ask him to send you the macro?

Hey, he's definitely smart when it comes to excel. I've actually seen the spreadsheet and have a copy of it somewhere. I'll ask him and see what he says.

Thanks

I use Movie Collector Pro. I'm debating getting a bar code scanner as I have Game Collector as well. Not a bad price for what they do and I haven't found a better alternative.

I used to use DVD AF but it's just too limited. I keep my BD collection up to date on this site, but it's far to limiting as well.

Speaking of this site as a tool for organizing collections, does anyone know how to sort them according to genres? Like animation/horror and so on.

I've got a Microsoft Works database to keep track of both DVDs and BDs. I got fields for titles, year, rating, nationality, genre, sub-genre, stars, director, runtime, but much of this info remains blank.

I also got my BD collection posted here.

Now I half-wonder if I should use the online alternative for everything.

I'm not sure if there's a preset option or anything. I would create new custom categories and sort the titles out among them.
